Edgar interpreta a Genoveva Alcalá en la tercera temporada, según el elenco oficial de Telemundo. Al describir el arco del personaje, explicó: “La vida de Genoveva Alcalá ha dado un giro inesperado por todas las cosas que ha pasado durante su vida”.
Cuando le preguntaron por su reacción ante ese desarrollo, respondió: “Me sorprendió”. También dijo: “Me gustó mucho actoralmente”, y describió la experiencia como una oportunidad y un desafío por las situaciones difíciles y las emociones que atraviesa Genoveva.
Cómo describió la relación de Genoveva y Epifanio
Según Edgar, el vínculo entre Genoveva y Epifanio Vargas está fracturado y marcado por la manipulación de él. La actriz dijo: “La relación que tiene Genoveva y Epifanio Vargas en esta temporada es una relación totalmente fracturada en donde ya no hay ni siquiera amor, ni siquiera algo que los denote que tienen que estar juntos”.

En la descripción de Edgar, el hijo de ambos sigue siendo un motivo que los mantiene ligados y condiciona sus objetivos. Sobre trabajar con Humberto Zurita, quien interpreta a Epifanio, comentó: “Trabajar con Humberto (Epifanio Vargas) para mí es un placer”.
Qué destacó de la producción
Edgar elogió el libreto, las secuencias de acción y el componente de thriller político de la temporada. La grabación se realizó durante la pandemia de COVID-19; la actriz recordó que el equipo hacía pruebas PCR “un día sí y un día no” y describió los protocolos sanitarios como estrictos. Ese dato corresponde a su relato sobre el rodaje, no a una estadística independiente de producción.

Cuándo se estrenó La reina del sur 3
La tercera temporada se estrenó en Telemundo el 18 de octubre de 2022. La campaña de lanzamiento de la cadena anunció la emisión a las 9 p. m. ET / 8 p. m. CT; son horarios del estreno de 2022, no una indicación de programación actual. Telemundo había anunciado en agosto de ese año que la temporada llegaría en octubre.
