On 15 May 2025, actor and Mandi MP Kangana Ranaut said BJP national president J P Nadda had called and asked her to delete a social media post criticising Donald Trump. Ranaut said she regretted sharing what she called a “very personal opinion” and had removed it from Instagram as well. The reported call is based on Ranaut’s account; the news reports reviewed did not independently confirm it.
What did Ranaut say about Trump, Modi and Apple?
Ranaut’s post followed Trump’s remarks to Apple CEO Tim Cook about the company’s plans to manufacture in India. India Today reproduced the deleted post as follows:
“What could be the reason of this love loss. 1) He is American President but world’s most loved leader is Indian Prime Minister. 2. Trump’s second term but Indian Prime Minister’s third term. 3. Undoubtedly Trump is alpha male but our PM is sab alpha male ka baap. What do you think? This is personal jealousy or diplomatic insecurity?”
This wording was reproduced by India Today; the post was no longer available from Ranaut’s account in the reports reviewed. India Today’s 15 May 2025 report attributed the post to Ranaut.

Why did she delete the post?
In a follow-up statement posted on X on 15 May, Ranaut said Nadda had called and asked her to remove the tweet. Scroll reproduced her statement: “Respected national president Shri @JPNadda ji called and asked me to delete the tweet I had posted regarding Trump asking Apple CEO Tim Cook not to manufacture in India. I regret posting that very personal opinion of mine, as per instructions I immediately deleted it from…” Scroll reported that she said she had removed it from Instagram too.
Scroll’s contemporaneous report gives Ranaut’s account of the call and her regret. The reports reviewed do not independently establish that the call took place, or provide Nadda’s own account. The evidence supports saying that Ranaut described a request from Nadda—not that the BJP publicly issued an order.

What was Trump’s comment about Apple manufacturing in India?
Scroll reported that Trump said he had asked Cook not to manufacture in India unless the output served the Indian market, and that Trump also claimed Apple would increase production in the United States. The Indian Express described Ranaut’s post as a response to Trump’s remarks opposing Apple’s expansion in India. Neither report establishes that Apple changed its manufacturing plans because of Trump’s comments.
The Indian Express report, published on 15 May and updated on 16 May 2025, also described Ranaut’s post and the deletion as she recounted it.
