The evidence points to several specific projects, not a verified lifetime giving total or a way to rank his overall impact. It also matters whether a reported figure describes Bieber personally, a fan-voted award or a fundraising event involving many people.
Support for education through Pencils of Promise
Pencils of Promise says its work is to create schools, programs and global communities around education for all. Its reports document several Bieber-related efforts, but the reported totals belong to different kinds of activity and should not be added together as his personal donations.
A fan-voted award shared between two charities
In 2012, Pencils of Promise reported that a fan-voted competition awarded $20,000 connected to Bieber’s selected charities. The money was split evenly between Pencils of Promise and Make-A-Wish. Pencils of Promise said its share could fund one additional classroom; the full $20,000 was not a personal donation by Bieber. Pencils of Promise’s 2012 report describes the award and its allocation.
Gala fundraising: event totals, not personal gifts
Pencils of Promise listed Bieber among early supporters honored at its first gala. The organization’s 2011 annual report said that gala raised over $1 million and enabled the development of 40 schools. Those are event-wide figures, not amounts attributable to Bieber alone. The 2011 annual report gives the organization’s account.
At the 2018 Pencils of Promise gala, chaired by Bieber and Scooter Braun, the organization reported raising over $3 million for global education. That figure also describes the gala as a whole. Pencils of Promise’s 2018 annual report reports the event total.
Schools4All and tour-ticket pledges
Pencils of Promise’s 2012 yearbook reported that its Schools4All campaign raised almost $400,000 and resulted in 15 schools, with support from named partners that included Bieber. The figure is a combined campaign result, not an individual donation total. The 2012 yearbook provides the campaign figures.
Rank #2
Universal Music Canada reported in 2020 that Bieber pledged one dollar from every ticket sold on the My World, Believe and Purpose tours to Pencils of Promise. The label did not publish a full ticket count or an aggregate donation total, so the pledge cannot be converted from that account into a verified overall sum. Universal Music Canada’s 2020 account describes the pledge.
Make-A-Wish: a label-reported wish count
Universal Music Canada reported in 2020 that Bieber had granted more than 350 wishes through Make-A-Wish. That number is attributable to the label’s report; the Make-A-Wish mission page reviewed for this account does not confirm the tally. The charity describes its work as creating life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. The label’s report gives the count, while Make-A-Wish’s mission page explains the organization’s purpose.

Arts and mental-health initiatives reported in 2020
Universal Music Canada’s 2020 account also described a 2019 art auction curated by Justin and Hailey Bieber for LIFT Los Angeles and Inner-City Arts, organizations associated with youth and arts education. The account identifies the initiative but does not provide recipient-side outcome evaluations.
The same label article reported a $50,000 donation to Active Minds in connection with Schmidt’s. This is a label-reported donation figure; the account does not establish longer-term results from the gift. Universal Music Canada’s article is the source for both the auction and donation details.

The examples show different forms of participation: a fan-voted award divided between charities, support connected to collective fundraising, a per-ticket pledge, wish-granting, an art auction and a reported donation. The organizations and source types measure them differently, so a single impact ranking would be misleading.
- Pencils of Promise reports provide event and campaign totals, but those numbers do not isolate Bieber’s personal contribution or prove that every reported school outcome was caused by him.
- The Make-A-Wish tally and the 2019 project details above come from Bieber’s label’s 2020 account; the reviewed recipient pages do not independently verify all of those claims.
- The available figures do not establish Bieber’s current lifetime charitable giving or the longer-term effects of every initiative.
