Jão’s *SUPER* was reported at No. 5 on Spotify’s Global Top Albums Debut chart for August 18–20, 2023. The ranking, reported by Brazilian music outlet POPline, was a release-period placement—not a current ranking.
What the reported Spotify ranking means
POPline reported on August 22, 2023, that *SUPER* placed fifth on Spotify’s “Top Albums Debut Global” chart for the August 18–20 period. That is a position on a global debut chart over a multi-day window; it is not a claim that the album had the fifth-highest first-day total of all time.

The report identifies *SUPER* as Jão’s fourth album of unreleased, original material. Its fifth-place global chart position and the separate Brazil first-day record claim are different measures and should not be treated as interchangeable.
The first-day figure is a separate Brazil claim
POPline also reported that *SUPER* earned more than 8.5 million Spotify plays in its first 24 hours, describing the result as a Brazil record. That figure concerns Spotify listening in Brazil, not the global chart ranking. A Portuguese Wikipedia summary gives 8.1 million for the same first-day milestone, so the precise total is inconsistently reported; neither figure should be presented as an independently verified global stream count.

What the available sources establish
POPline is the contemporary source for the No. 5 placement and its August 18–20 chart period. A primary Spotify archive confirming that historical placement is not cited here. Spotify’s 2024 year-end roundup concerns listening leaders in 2024 and does not verify this 2023 debut result.
ChartMasters’ global album-debut page is a third-party compilation, not an official Spotify statement. It presents streams alongside track counts and average streams per track. Those measures can help contextualize comparisons, but any “biggest debut” claim needs to match geography, time window, and metric: Brazil versus global, first day versus a multi-day period, and stream total versus chart rank. Track count also matters when comparing total streams with averages per track.
