Joe Alwyn said in a January 2025 interview that his relationship with Taylor Swift was “a while ago” in his life. The earlier phrase “He’s dating and happy” came from an unnamed source quoted by People in April 2024—not from Alwyn himself. As of June 2026, reports have linked him to actor Sarah Pidgeon after public sightings, but neither actor had publicly confirmed a relationship in the coverage reviewed.
Who said Joe Alwyn was “dating and happy”?
The phrase came from an unnamed source quoted by People in April 2024 and relayed by Vanity Fair and Marie Claire. The source characterized Alwyn as doing well, focused on work, dating and happy, and having moved on. Those are anonymous-source descriptions, not a direct statement from Alwyn.
The same source said Alwyn did not speak poorly of Swift. That, too, is an attributed account rather than a public comment from either person about the private details of their relationship.
What did Alwyn say about moving on?
In a January 5, 2025 interview with The Guardian, Alwyn was asked about moving on. He replied: “That’s something for other people to do,” then described the relationship as “something that’s a while ago now in my life.” This is the clearest direct comment in the cited coverage addressing the idea of moving on.

Alwyn has also explained why he avoids discussing the relationship in detail. In 2024, as quoted by ELLE, he said that he and Swift had mutually chosen to keep private details private, adding that the relationship was never something to commodify. He also said he did not want to discuss whether he was dating at that time, given the scrutiny around his past relationship.
What is known about the breakup timeline?
Entertainment Tonight reported in April 2023, citing sources, that the breakup had happened a few weeks earlier and that the relationship had run its course amicably. The Guardian later described the relationship as lasting six and a half years; ET said the pair had been dating since 2016. These are outlet-reported timelines, not independently established private dates.

Is Joe Alwyn dating Sarah Pidgeon?
In June 2026, reports connected Alwyn with actor Sarah Pidgeon after they were seen together in New York and photographed kissing. ELLE framed the story as dating rumors, and IBTimes UK reported June 30 that the relationship was unconfirmed by either actor. The sightings prompted speculation; they do not, by themselves, establish a confirmed relationship.
