A property being taken off the market means it is no longer being offered through that listing; it does not, on its own, show that ownership changed. The reports distinguish the $17.9 million asking price from any sale price, and none supplies a confirmed sale price.
Why was it taken off the market?
The available reports do not establish a reason for the listing changes. The December 2025 account specifically said the reason for the brief relisting and subsequent removal was unclear. The January 2025 relisting came shortly before the couple publicly confirmed their separation, but sequence alone does not establish cause or motive.

Realtor.com reproduced Simpson’s January 2025 statement: “Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage.” She also said, “Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them. We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family.” Those remarks provide relationship context, not an explanation for the property’s listing status.
What has been reported about the Hidden Hills property?
Realtor.com described the estate as 13,200 square feet and reported seven bedrooms in its summary, while its account of the original listing quoted a description of eight en-suite bedrooms. A December 2025 listing account gave 13,274 square feet, seven bedrooms, and 2.25 acres. The cited coverage does not explain the differing area and bedroom figures, so they should be treated as details from separate reports rather than reconciled specifications.

Realtor.com’s November 2025 account also described renovations, a recording studio, guest house, study, pool, and outdoor dining areas. Its quoted listing called the estate a “private retreat” with “mesmerizing city lights and mountain views that will leave you breathless”—promotional language from the listing, not an independent assessment.

Realtor.com and TMZ reported that Simpson and Johnson bought the property in 2013 for $11.5 million; Realtor.com said it had previously belonged to Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne. In the November 2025 Realtor.com account, Simpson was quoted telling her sister: “My L.A. house is on the market. I don’t know where I’m going next, but it’s time to go.” That comment reflected the plans reported at that time; it does not resolve the later status update attributed to TMZ’s unnamed sources.
