No. Reports from 2016 say a New York appellate court ended Bethenny Frankel’s temporary spousal-maintenance payments to her ex-husband, Jason Hoppy. The reported amount was about $11,852 per month—often rounded to nearly $12,000—and it was not an ongoing payment. Later reporting about child support concerns a separate issue.
What happened to the nearly $12,000 monthly payment?
E! News and People reported that on March 22, 2016, a New York appellate court ruled Frankel no longer had to pay Hoppy temporary spousal maintenance during their divorce proceedings. People put the amount at approximately $11,852 per month; E! News described it as nearly $12,000. The figure is a historical amount reported at the time, not a current payment.
Both outlets connected the ruling to a spousal-support waiver in the couple’s prenuptial agreement. E! News reported that Frankel’s attorney, Allan Mayefsky, welcomed the court’s decision, saying it invalidated the interim award based on Hoppy’s waiver. Hoppy’s attorney, Bernard Clair, disagreed and said the court had erred in applying a broad waiver. Those were the attorneys’ statements in 2016, not quotations from the court.
How is this different from the later child-support reporting?
Later coverage says the divorce was finalized in 2021 and that Frankel subsequently stopped making direct child-support payments after she received primary residential custody of the couple’s daughter, Bryn. Child support and spousal maintenance are different obligations. The reported end of child support followed a custody-related development; it does not mean the temporary spousal-maintenance payment continued or resumed.

What is known about the payment now?
Coverage published in September 2026 describes the former couple’s relationship as strained but does not report that spousal-maintenance payments resumed. The available reporting therefore supports a clear conclusion about the temporary payment: it ended in 2016, and no reviewed report says it was renewed. That does not establish whether any private financial arrangement exists beyond what has been publicly reported.
