In a reported interview, she said she did not remember a specific conversation about ending the group. Her comments were conditional: if a member felt group activity was not right for her at a particular time, the others would understand and respect that choice.
What Rosé said about BLACKPINK’s future
Billboard Brasil reported on January 28, 2026, that Rosé was asked whether she had discussed BLACKPINK’s end with Jisoo, Jennie and Lisa. She said she did not recall a specific conversation about it, then spoke about how the members would respond if one of them did not feel ready to continue group activity at a given moment.
Billboard Brasil quoted her in Portuguese: “Não me lembro de nenhuma conversa específica. Mas sim, se uma de nós sentir que, naquele momento, não é a coisa certa a fazer, todas nós entenderemos.” The report also quoted her comparison of the group to a relationship: “O BLACKPINK é como qualquer relacionamento: se uma pessoa não está pronta para algo, isso deve ser respeitado.” Read Billboard Brasil’s report.
Those remarks describe mutual understanding and individual choice; they are not an announcement that the group is breaking up. The report supplies the remarks in Portuguese rather than an English-language original transcript, so they are best understood through that attribution and context.

What YG has announced about group activity
YG Entertainment has treated BLACKPINK’s group work separately from the members’ individual activities. The company announced a renewed contract for group activities while saying it would not make separate contracts with the members for their individual work. See YG’s contract-renewal notice.
On January 15, 2026, YG announced the group’s third mini album, DEADLINE, for release on February 27, 2026, and described the comeback as a full-group return. At the time of that announcement, the album production—including the music-video shoot—was complete and in post-production. Read YG’s album announcement.
