Interview with the Vampire has already returned: its third season premiered June 7, 2026, under the title The Vampire Lestat. The season follows Lestat as he forms a band and tours to challenge the story Daniel Molloy told about him. AMC has since renewed the series for Season 4, Anne Rice’s Queen of the Damned; no premiere date has been announced.
Is Interview with the Vampire returning for Season 3?
Yes—but Season 3 is no longer upcoming. AMC premiered it on AMC and AMC+ on June 7, 2026, using The Vampire Lestat as the season title. The series retains the Interview with the Vampire name as its broader identity, while the new title signals a shift toward Lestat’s perspective. AMC’s official Season 3 announcement set the premiere date and introduced the season’s storyline.
What happens in Lestat’s rock-star storyline?
Lestat starts a band and goes on tour in an effort to set his story straight after Daniel Molloy’s portrayal of him in the book Interview with the Vampire. The premise was part of AMC’s June 26, 2024, Season 3 renewal announcement. The later official synopsis describes Lestat touring multiple cities while haunted by “muses” from his past. As his fame grows, it changes his influence over both vampires and humans, amid what AMC calls the “Great Conversion,” an unnatural surge in the vampire population.
This is a story about more than a vampire adopting the trappings of a rock star: his public persona becomes a way to contest the account already told about him, with consequences for the wider vampire world.

Who plays Lestat, and what music is in the season?
Sam Reid plays Lestat and performs original songs written by series composer Daniel Hart. AMC’s February 2026 announcement named “Long Face” as an advance single; an April announcement listed “Long Face,” “All Fall Down,” and a cover of Billy Idol’s “Dancing with Myself” among the music released on digital services including Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music. Those announcements establish digital releases, not a physical soundtrack edition.
AMC lists Jacob Anderson, Assad Zaman, Eric Bogosian, Delainey Hayles, and Jennifer Ehle among the Season 3 cast. Rolin Jones is the series creator, writer, and showrunner; Mark Johnson and Hannah Moscovitch are executive producers, with Hart composing the series. See AMC’s music and collaboration announcement for the named songs and related campaign details.

Has the series been renewed for Season 4?
Yes. After the Season 3 finale, AMC announced on July 24, 2026, that the series would continue as Anne Rice’s Queen of the Damned, based on Anne Rice’s novel. Hannah Moscovitch will serve as showrunner. AMC’s announcement did not give a premiere date, so there is no confirmed Season 4 schedule to report. The completed third season was described as streaming exclusively on AMC+ in that July announcement; access can vary by country and change over time. Check local listings for current availability.
How the season title relates to Anne Rice’s novel
AMC’s The Vampire Lestat is the third season of the television series; Anne Rice’s The Vampire Lestat is a novel. The book is a natural companion for readers who want to explore the source character, but it is not a physical edition of the TV season. Penguin Random House lists the novel in paperback, hardcover, and mass-market paperback formats on its book page. The publisher also describes its Lestat as a rock star, a connection that makes the book especially relevant to the season’s premise.

The central status is settled: Season 3 has aired, and Season 4 has been renewed. The remaining uncertainty is about future scheduling and access, not whether the show is continuing.
- Confirmed: Season 3 premiered June 7, 2026, as The Vampire Lestat; AMC renewed the series for Season 4 as Anne Rice’s Queen of the Damned.
- Not announced in AMC’s Season 4 release: a premiere date.
