Jelly Roll has described his weight-loss journey as a personal effort involving changes to his relationship with food and regular physical activity. The milestones he has shared have changed over time: he said he had lost around 70 pounds in April 2024, his chef and nutrition coach later reported more than 100 pounds lost since the previous tour, and in January 2026 he described a 275-pound loss in a Men’s Health cover feature. These are dated, attributed accounts—not independently audited weigh-ins.
How the reported milestones changed
The figures below refer to different dates and speakers. They should not be read as a single, independently verified measurement series.
| Date | Figure and attribution | What the account says |
|---|---|---|
| April 15, 2024 | Around 70 pounds, according to Jelly Roll in an interview with People, as reported by Good Morning America. | He said he hoped to lose another 100 pounds or so. |
| October 24, 2024 | More than 100 pounds since the previous tour, according to chef and nutrition coach Ian Larios, as reported by Good Morning America. | Larios described the change over the period since that tour; this is not the same time window as Jelly Roll’s April figure. |
| January 2, 2026 | 275 pounds, as Jelly Roll described his loss in a Men’s Health cover feature and short documentary, reported by Good Morning America. | The report covered his reflections on food and footage of workouts. |
What Jelly Roll has said about food
In the 2026 short documentary A Year for a Life, Jelly Roll described “closet-eating” and connected it to feeling misunderstood. As quoted by Good Morning America, he said: “I think I was just trying to find my way into whatever I could, and I think what I was doing was, I felt so misunderstood that I was closet-eating the whole time.”
He also described the consequences in stark personal terms: “I was killing myself. Literally. I mean, I was eating myself to absolute death.” That is his account of his own experience, not a clinical diagnosis. Men’s Health Editorial Director Richard Dorment told GMA that the feature sought to understand what drove the transformation, and said Jelly Roll came to think of his relationship with food as a food addiction. That characterization should likewise be understood as part of the feature’s account, not as a medical finding.

What he and his team described doing
Walking and other activity in 2024
In the April 2024 account, Jelly Roll said he walked two to three miles a day, four to six days a week, and was eating healthfully. He also mentioned using a sauna for 20–30 minutes and a cold plunge for six minutes. Those details describe what he said he was doing then; they are not a prescription or evidence that any one practice caused his weight loss.
In October 2024, Larios described walking, basketball and boxing as part of the activity he associated with Jelly Roll’s effort. In footage discussed in the 2026 GMA report, Jelly Roll boxed, did push-ups and ran arena stairs.

A chef’s account of food
Larios said he prepared an air-fried, higher-protein Nashville-style hot chicken meal. He also named bananas with manuka honey and grated dark chocolate as a pre-show snack. These are examples from the chef’s account of meals and preparation—not proof that a particular recipe, ingredient or appliance produced the weight loss.

In a December 12, 2025, Associated Press interview, Jelly Roll was running uphill in South Texas when he took the call. He told AP, “Endorphins are flying. I feel great.” It is a dated snapshot of activity and how he felt during that interview, not a full account of his exercise routine.

In the Men’s Health feature trailer, he described the change as coming through “food and exercise” and a willingness to “pound the pavement and get my heart rate up.” He also said, “I wish I could bottle what I’m feeling right now up and give it to everybody who’s struggling out there.” His comments emphasize how personal and demanding the process felt to him; they do not establish a routine that will work for someone else.

What these accounts do—and do not—establish
- They document how Jelly Roll and, at one point, his chef and nutrition coach described his progress and routine at particular times.
- The loss figures have different dates, speakers and time windows; none is presented in these reports as an independently audited measurement.
- The accounts do not establish a medical diagnosis, medication use, surgery, or a current health assessment.
- His routine is a personal story, not medical advice. The sources cited here do not provide a population study or statistic that would justify turning his experience into a general weight-loss claim.
