No official confirmation of 86 Eighty-Six Season 3 could be verified in the official sources reviewed. That is a limited finding, not proof that the anime is canceled or that no announcement exists elsewhere. No Season 3 release date or production status is established by the available information.
What is known about Season 3?
Aniplex’s official listing identifies 86 Eighty-Six as a 2021 television anime by A-1 Pictures, based on Asato Asato’s original work. The listing says the second cour began on October 2, 2021; it does not confirm a third season. Aniplex’s official anime listing
The anime’s official news page has a September 12, 2026 entry, but the available page extract shows a date and an image without readable announcement text. Its contents therefore cannot establish a Season 3 announcement. Official anime news entry
VIZ describes the Eighty-sixers as people treated as less than human and identifies Shin as captain of the Spearhead Squadron. Its anime home-video listing calls the Blu-ray the complete first season. VIZ’s Eighty-Six page

Is there a release date or cancellation announcement?
No Season 3 release date or production status is established by the official information cited here. The absence of a verifiable confirmation is not a cancellation announcement, so claims that the series is either definitely returning or definitively over go beyond what these sources show.

VIZ offers the complete first season on Blu-ray for viewers who want the existing screen adaptation. Yen Press publishes the English-language light novels and lists volumes 1–14 in its series catalog; its Volume 3 page includes a paperback listing and retailer links. The novels are the source material, not evidence that another anime season has been ordered. Yen Press: 86–EIGHTY-SIX, Vol. 3 (light novel)
