What Ronald D. Moore said at San Diego Comic-Con
In an interview reported by Insider Gaming on July 28, 2025, Moore described the series as being in the scriptwriting phase. He said discussions with God of War game director Cory Barlog had helped him understand the scope of the first season, which Moore said was planned for ten episodes. That was a reported plan at the time, not confirmation of the current episode count. Insider Gaming’s July 2025 report

Moore characterized the adaptation as closely intertwined with the 2018 game, while saying it would not reproduce the game frame by frame. His description pointed to the game’s characters, spirit, and general story flow as guideposts. TechRadar’s July 29, 2025 recap likewise described a Norse-era adaptation centered on Kratos and Atreus, with Barlog involved. TechRadar’s recap
In the 2025 report, Moore did not commit to a total number of seasons or provide a definite filming start date; he said filming would not begin before 2026. Amazon’s later status update supersedes that earlier schedule snapshot.

Which Comic-Con announcement is this?
The series details in the headline refer to Moore’s July 2025 discussion of the television adaptation. A separate PlayStation Comic-Con schedule in July 2026 announced a panel called “God of War Laufey — Forging God of War’s Next Heroes,” concerning the game rather than the Amazon series.
