Hailee Steinfeld’s appearance in Avengers: Doomsday is unconfirmed. Asked in September 2026 whether she would return as Kate Bishop, she reportedly replied, “I have no idea, time will tell.” That is neither a confirmation nor a denial.
What did Hailee Steinfeld say about returning as Kate Bishop?
SuperHeroHype reported that Steinfeld was asked about returning for Avengers: Doomsday during a September 2026 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Her reported answer was: “I have no idea, time will tell.” The report embeds a post from the show’s official account, but is not a full interview transcript. Read SuperHeroHype’s report.
The wording leaves the question open. It does not establish that Steinfeld has been cast, and it does not establish that she will not appear.
Why was Steinfeld missing from the cast reveal?
Marvel Studios’ initial Avengers: Doomsday cast announcement, published by The Walt Disney Company on March 26, 2025, named 26 performers and did not include Steinfeld. That means she was omitted from the announcement—not that Marvel confirmed her exclusion from the film. See the official announcement.

In September 2026, director Anthony Russo said the list was incomplete: “The cast is so large, and we’ve announced some of the cast, and we haven’t announced some of the cast.” His comment reinforces that the published names were not necessarily the full cast; it does not identify Steinfeld as one of the unannounced performers. GamesRadar+ reported Russo’s remarks.

No. An April 2025 Times of India article, citing a Backstage interview, reported Steinfeld saying she was “excited about the idea of continuing to grow with a character like Kate” in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She also spoke warmly about the character. Those comments show interest in Kate Bishop, not confirmation of a role in this particular film. Read The Times of India’s account.
