How the casting search unfolded
The announcement says the search led by casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann involved “tens of thousands” of children. It does not give an exact final audition total. In an earlier update, director and executive producer Mark Mylod said the team had seen 30,000 actors audition; that earlier figure should not be treated as the final count.
Showrunner and executive producer Francesca Gardiner and executive producer and director Mark Mylod praised the three actors and thanked the young people who auditioned, saying they were delighted to have found their Harry, Hermione and Ron.
