Gunther’s weight loss has been reported as almost 70 pounds, but that figure comes from a 2022 media profile—not a verified weigh-in. Gunther later said he chose to change his look ahead of reaching WWE’s wider audience because he worried his former physique might not read as champion-like. WWE’s current roster profile lists him at 250 pounds, though it does not say when or how that figure was measured.
How much weight did Gunther lose?
USA Insider reported on November 9, 2022, that Gunther was 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighed 300 pounds at the time. The outlet also said he had lost almost 70 pounds after joining NXT. Those are the publication’s reported figures, not clinical measurements or an independently verified weigh-in. USA Insider’s 2022 profile is the source for both numbers.
WWE’s current official Gunther profile lists him at 6 feet 4 inches and 250 pounds. WWE does not provide a measurement date or method for that roster figure. Because the 2022 and current figures come from separate records, they should not be subtracted to calculate a precise total loss.
Why did Gunther decide to change his physique?
Gunther described the change as a deliberate decision about presentation, not a response to feeling uncomfortable with his former body. In a May 2026 interview with Enry Lazza, as transcribed by WrestleTalk, he said he thought a broader WWE audience might see his earlier physique as out of shape and not as champion-like. He wanted a fresh look while remaining himself. WrestleTalk’s May 2026 report attributes that explanation to Gunther.
