Godzilla Minus Zero is the next Godzilla film from Godzilla Minus One filmmaker Takashi Yamazaki, who returns as director, screenwriter and visual-effects lead. TOHO lists a November 3, 2026 theatrical opening in Japan; GKIDS lists North American IMAX early-access screenings that day and a wide theatrical release beginning November 6.
What is Godzilla Minus Zero?
Godzilla Minus Zero is the official title of Yamazaki’s next Godzilla film. TOHO’s official film page confirms his three roles: director, screenwriter and VFX lead. The announced story continues the Shikishima family’s story after Godzilla Minus One.
TOHO’s promotional synopsis reads: “War reduced Japan to zero, and Godzilla plunged it into minus. Two years have passed since then, and the country has faced agonizing struggles to achieve recovery and finally reclaim its daily life. Just as humanity managed to cling to a hard-won peace, a new threat strikes, crushing hope in an instant. There is no third time. Everything ends here.” This is official synopsis copy, not a quotation attributed to a cast or crew member. TOHO’s Godzilla Minus Zero page
When and where will it be released?
The announced dates differ by territory and screening format. TOHO lists the Japan theatrical opening; GKIDS details the North American schedule.
