In a GamesBeat interview published March 30, 2025, and updated June 18, he also describes the obligations that come with a large audience—and why he wants more live tournaments.
What does “the Fortnite generation” value?
Conrod’s answer is rooted in competitive play, not a claim about every young gamer. He says players increasingly care less about visual fidelity than about how smoothly a game runs and what they can accomplish in it: “People now really just care about the performance of the game and how to accomplish the highest achievements there.”
That distinction matters in a competitive game. A visually impressive experience and a responsive one are not always the same priority for a player focused on performance. Conrod’s perspective is that smooth play and the chance to reach a high level can matter more than graphics. It is his account of the audience he knows, not a population-wide finding.
How do competition and streaming fit together?
Conrod describes professional competition and streaming as connected parts of his career. Playing supplies the competition and achievement; streaming lets an audience follow the player and the personality behind the performance. But doing both means balancing two kinds of work rather than treating streaming as an effortless by-product of being good at a game.

GamesBeat reported that Conrod was 20 when interviewed and that he began earning money and attracting followers as a young teenager. The article also reported that he was named 2024’s Most Watched English Fortnite Streamer and received the 2024 Stream Awards’ Fortnite Streamer of the Year honor. Those details describe the period and reporting of the interview, not a current ranking.
The interview’s other numbers are anecdotes attributed to Conrod or reported by GamesBeat: he said a documentary about him received 10 million views, and recalled that his father invested $1,000 in his first computer. GamesBeat described Clix Creative maps and modes as reaching tens of millions of players. Conrod also said he sold 500 jerseys in 10 minutes at a LAN event and that more than 200 people attended a rain-soaked New York event with JBL, which he said drew 15,000 online viewers. These are interview-reported figures, not independently verified audience or sales statistics.

What responsibility comes with a creator’s audience?
A creator’s reach can amplify more than gameplay. Conrod reflects on how an angry outburst can direct unwanted attention toward someone else, and says he came to see that as a responsibility attached to influence: “There are better ways I could take my anger than just ruining someone’s week.”
His point is not that creators must avoid emotion or criticism. It is that a public reaction from someone with a large audience can have consequences beyond the original disagreement. For viewers, that is part of the relationship between creator and community; for creators, it is a reason to think about where attention may land when they speak.

Why does Conrod want more in-person Fortnite events?
Conrod sees live competition as an underdeveloped part of esports. LAN events put players and fans in the same room, making crowd energy and direct fan connection part of the event rather than leaving the audience at a distance online. He argues for more in-person tournaments and describes a model in which Fortnite could work with outside brands: “The way I would want it to go is Fortnite being able to partner with third-party brands to have their own LAN events.”
His examples show how he views those events as both competition and community gatherings. The JBL event he recalled combined an in-person audience with an online one, while the jersey sales anecdote points to the way fans may engage with a player beyond watching matches. Those figures are his account, not a general measure of LAN attendance or demand.

How do creator identity and commercial partnerships connect?
The interview describes Conrod’s work across competition, content and commercial projects. It names JBL as a partner, XSET in connection with his team role at the time, Clix Creative as his map and mode venture, and Dr3amin as his apparel brand. These are details from the 2025 interview period, not confirmation of current team roles or active partnerships.
Conrod says a brand relationship works best when the interest goes both ways: “Most brands that you work with, there needs to be love from both sides.” In his account, a partnership is more than a logo attached to a player; it depends on genuine affinity between creator and brand. The interview says he wears a JBL headset while competing but does not name a model, so it does not establish which specific headset he uses.

What the interview can—and cannot—tell us
GamesBeat’s interview offers a useful view of how one prominent Fortnite competitor thinks about the audience around him: prioritize play that feels responsive, make room for achievement, recognize that creators shape attention, and bring fans together in person. It does not establish a single set of preferences for all young gamers, a complete picture of esports economics, or Conrod’s current status beyond the interview’s reporting. Its value is in the specificity of his perspective and the way it connects competitive play with public influence and live community.
