Gabe Newell’s yacht is Leviathan, a 111-metre superyacht built by Oceanco. A BOAT International feature describes a vessel with unusually considered working and leisure spaces, including a soundproofed editing room and a pool system designed to limit sloshing in rough seas. The headline’s word “obscene” is a value judgment, not a documented price: the cited reporting does not confirm what the yacht cost.
What is Gabe Newell’s yacht?
Leviathan is a 111-metre superyacht associated with Newell and built by Dutch shipyard Oceanco. BOAT International reported the vessel’s length in its feature, “Inside Gabe Newell’s 111m superyacht Leviathan,” published in its June 2026 issue. Read the BOAT International feature.
What is known about its design?
The BOAT International feature emphasizes how space aboard Leviathan serves both practical and leisure purposes. Among the details it reports are a soundproofed room for sound and video editing and a pool system intended to prevent water from sloshing in rough seas. These are reported design features, not evidence of a particular price or a formal assessment of the yacht’s environmental or operational impact.
How did Newell describe the project?
Newell described working with Oceanco CEO Marcel Onkenhout and the shipyard’s team as a collaborative effort: “When you are building the vessel with Marcel [Onkenhout, Oceanco’s CEO] and his team, it feels very much like you are collaborating to achieve a set of shared goals.” The remark frames the build as a partnership rather than simply a purchase.

Is the yacht’s price confirmed?
No confirmed purchase price or construction cost appears in the cited reporting. The yacht is an individually built superyacht, but that alone does not establish what Newell paid or what the project cost. Online estimates should not be treated as verified figures unless they are supported by reliable, specific reporting.
Accordingly, “obscene” in the headline is a subjective description of the scale and luxury associated with a 111-metre yacht. It is not a verified financial category, and the available reporting does not supply a figure that would substantiate a price claim.
