Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 19, 2025, brought a broad mix of game reveals, new trailers, release and platform updates, expansions, crossovers, and a Fallout TV teaser. The headline moments included the Sekiro anime Sekiro: No Death, a new Ghost of Yōtei trailer and its 2026 Legends co-op mode, and fresh looks at Resident Evil Requiem, Hollow Knight: Silksong, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. Here are the major announcements and updates from the main presentation, with the Ghost of Yōtei mode explained separately.

When was Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025?

The presentation took place in Cologne on August 19, 2025. TechRadar estimated the main show ran for roughly two hours. The rundown below focuses on Opening Night Live itself; Gamescom included other programming, and Xbox published a separate recap of its own announcements later that week.

What were the biggest announcements?

Sekiro: No Death

A new anime adaptation titled Sekiro: No Death was announced. The reveal brought FromSoftware’s action-game world to animation; it was a media announcement rather than a new game release.

Ghost of Yōtei Legends

Sucker Punch showed a new trailer for Ghost of Yōtei and announced Legends, a cooperative multiplayer mode planned for 2026. PlayStation described two-player story missions and four-player survival matches, and said the mode would be free for owners of the game. The distinction matters: Ghost of Yōtei is the PS5 game, while Legends is its free add-on.

Hollow Knight: Silksong

Hollow Knight: Silksong appeared with a 2025 launch window in the event roundup published at the time. That is the contemporaneous announcement context, not a guarantee of its current release status.

What is Ghost of Yōtei Legends?

Legends is a cooperative mode set apart from the grounded world of the main game by a fantastical, supernatural setting. In the August 19, 2025 announcement, Sucker Punch’s Andrew Goldfarb described it as “our cooperative multiplayer mode featuring a fantastical, supernatural setting in contrast to the grounded world of Ghost of Yōtei.”

The announcement specified two-player story missions and four-player survival matches, with a 2026 plan and free access for owners of Ghost of Yōtei. PlayStation’s current game page adds further mode detail, including Story, Survival, and Incursion mission types and four character classes. Those later page details should not be mistaken for features individually revealed during Opening Night Live. Online play is subject to PlayStation account, connection, and service conditions.

What else was announced or shown?

The show’s wider slate included new titles alongside trailers, expansions, crossover announcements, platform updates, and release information. The following groups capture the breadth of the main-show roundup without treating every item as a brand-new game.

Which announcements did Xbox highlight?

Xbox Wire’s recap focused on the Xbox portion of Gamescom coverage, not a complete list of Opening Night Live. It highlighted:

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 7
  • The Outer Worlds 2
  • Ninja Gaiden 4
  • Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: The Order of Giants DLC
  • Age of Empires IV
  • World of Warcraft: Midnight
  • Fallout Season 2

That publisher-specific selection is useful for Xbox news, but it should not be read as the full event slate.

How complete is this announcement list?

Event roundups differ in whether they include pre-show material, how they group trailers and updates, and which release details they emphasize. TechRadar’s August 19 recap supplies the broad main-show list used here; Pocket Tactics and Siliconera published additional roundups with alternate organization and platform or release-window details. Because those lists have different editorial scopes and may reflect later updates, this is a guide to the major announcements and updates, not a claim that every pre-show and main-show item is exhaustive or that every listed date remains current.
