What is the movie about?
The story returns to Shadyside High in 1988, where underdog Lori is nominated for prom court. As the other candidates begin disappearing, the competition turns into a deadly prom night. Netflix describes it as a horror film set amid the school’s prom festivities.
Is it part of the original Fear Street trilogy?
Fear Street: Prom Queen is a standalone film in the wider Fear Street universe, not a continuation of the original trilogy’s completed story. It returns to Shadyside with a new story. Director and co-writer Matt Palmer described it as “a stand-alone film” in Netflix Tudum’s feature.

Is Fear Street: Prom Queen based on a book?
Yes. Netflix identifies R.L. Stine’s 1992 novel The Prom Queen as the book behind the film. That connection makes the novel a related read, but the available information does not establish how closely particular scenes or plot details match the movie.
