The band said registration was intended to make access fairer and reduce competition from touts, but reports of tickets listed for resale before the official sale intensified doubts about whether the safeguards worked.
What happened in the sale
Radiohead announced 20 European shows in 2025 across Madrid, Bologna, London, Copenhagen and Berlin. Fans were asked to register before the general sale, and some received unlock codes. Radio X explained that a code let a fan proceed to the ticketing stage; it did not reserve a ticket or guarantee that inventory would remain available. Radio X’s ticket guide described the process.

On September 12, fans posted complaints about queue delays, errors and being blocked from access, as collected by Cybernews. Those posts show that some buyers reported problems; they do not establish how widespread the problems were or what caused them. The available reporting does not provide a total number of applicants, code recipients or successful buyers.
Why registration and a code still did not mean a ticket
Registration and an unlock code controlled entry to a stage of the sale, not the outcome. Buyers still needed access to the ticketing process while tickets remained. The reporting does not establish that queue position was strictly first-come, first-served, nor does it show that registration stopped bots or touts.

That distinction helps explain the anger: a fan could complete the required steps and still face a queue, an error or unavailable inventory. Social-media reports are individual accounts, not a representative measure of how many fans encountered each problem.
Why resale listings deepened fans’ concerns
The Guardian reported that more than 1,200 tickets had appeared on Ticombo before the official general sale, with listings priced up to £788. Radiohead manager Julie Calland said the registration process was an attempt to distribute tickets fairly to fans at the prices the band intended, while acknowledging it was “not a perfect science.” The band urged fans to avoid secondary sites, warning that listings might be unauthorized or speculative. The Guardian’s report documents those listings and the band’s response; it is not a legal finding about any particular listing.

The timing created a visible tension: safeguards were presented as a way to get tickets to fans, while substantial resale listings were already being reported. That made the system’s effectiveness a reasonable concern, but the reporting does not prove that those listings came from successful buyers, that they were valid tickets, or that the registration process caused them.
What the London venue later said
The O2 said AXS managed ticketing for all four of Radiohead’s London shows and that resale was capped. The venue reported more than 90,000 attendees across those shows and said one performance set a new venue attendance record of 22,355. These are figures and descriptions from the venue, not independent evidence that access was fair or that every buyer’s experience was smooth. The O2’s account gives its reported attendance and ticketing details.

What the UK ticketing rules add—and what they do not
In 2025, the Competition and Markets Authority announced undertakings from Ticketmaster following the Oasis ticket sale. They require advance notice when tiered pricing is used, price-range information for people joining queues, updates when cheaper tickets sell out, and accurate ticket descriptions. The CMA said it had not found evidence that Ticketmaster used dynamic pricing during the Oasis sale. The CMA’s announcement is useful UK context, but concerns Ticketmaster and Oasis—not a finding about Radiohead’s sale or every ticketing platform.

As of October 8, 2026, Radiohead’s official site lists 2027 shows in Australia and Japan. The rules differ by destination, so advice from the 2025 European sale should not be assumed to apply to another tour.
