Maharashtra Cyber Cell announced on 17 February 2025 that it had registered an FIR against “all members who played roles in all episodes” of India’s Got Latent. That phrase describes the scope police said they were pursuing; it is not a court finding of guilt or a definitive list of everyone formally accused. Contemporary reports gave different figures for people covered by the case and people summoned.
What did Maharashtra Cyber say?
Inspector General Yashasvi Yadav told ANI on 17 February 2025: “FIR has been registered against all members who played roles in all episodes of the show,” according to Business Standard’s report. The report also said authorities had ordered videos under investigation removed and the show account deactivated until the inquiry concluded.
The statement was a police announcement about an investigation, not a judicial determination. The phrase “all members who played roles” should not be read as proof that every person associated with the show was formally accused or found guilty.
How many people were named or summoned?
Contemporaneous reports describe different procedural counts, which should not be merged into one final accused list.

The Indian Express quoted the officer saying the case was registered against 30 people and that summons would be issued asking them to join the probe. Business Standard’s report described 42 people as summoned for questioning “so far.” One figure concerns the people the officer said were covered by the case; the other concerns people reportedly summoned. Neither establishes a final judicial finding or a definitive final list.
A separate PTI report carried by ThePrint said Maharashtra Cyber registered an FIR against the show on 11 February 2025 and sought removal of 18 episodes. The ThePrint report is a contemporaneous account of that action; its reported episode count is not itself a court determination.

Was there also an Assam case?
Yes. Assam Police registered a separate case on 10 February 2025 concerning allegations of obscenity and sexually explicit discussion on the show, according to India Today. That case was distinct from the Maharashtra Cyber FIR. The allegations reported in connection with either police action are not findings of guilt.

In an order dated 28 April 2025, the Supreme Court recorded the Solicitor General’s statement that investigation in the Maharashtra and Assam FIRs concerning Ranveer Allahbadia was complete. The order also noted that he might still need to appear until a chargesheet was filed and described a direction allowing him to apply for return of his passport. Read the Supreme Court order in its procedural context: it does not establish that the FIRs were quashed or that proceedings against everyone involved in the show were over.

The Supreme Court’s cause list for 29 January 2026 included Ranveer Gautam Allahbadia’s W.P. (Crl.) No. 83/2025 and connected W.P. (Crl.) No. 85/2025 filed by Ashish Anil Chanchlani. The 29 January 2026 cause list confirms listing, not the final outcome. A later 24 April 2026 cause list was also available, but the material cited here does not establish a final disposition of every related FIR or proceeding.

How to understand the FIR reports
- Jurisdiction: Maharashtra Cyber and Assam Police registered separate cases; reports about one should not be attributed to the other.
- Procedural stage: FIR registration, summons, completion of an investigation, filing a chargesheet and a court’s final decision are different steps.
- Who was counted: The reported 30-person case count and 42-person summons count describe different categories, not competing verdicts.
