The Wall Street Journal reported in April 2025 that Elon Musk had sometimes solicited women he interacted with on X to have his children. The private-message claims are allegations attributed to people who told the Journal they had viewed messages; the messages have not been independently authenticated here. What the Journal reported
The Journal’s April 2025 investigation said Musk had approached some women he encountered on X about having his babies. Its account of the X messages relied on people who said they had seen them. The distinction matters: this is reporting about private exchanges, not a set of publicly available messages readers can inspect.
The Journal also reported a message to Ashley St. Clair during her pregnancy: “To reach legion-level before the apocalypse, we will need to use surrogates.” The quotation is presented as a text message the Journal said it viewed. The Journal’s account of the reported message.
What is and is not established
The Journal said its reporting involved conversations with more than four dozen people and review of emails, text messages, and other documents. That describes the broader reporting process; it does not mean that more than four dozen people verified the specific X solicitations. The separate figure of “more than four dozen” associated with the Journal’s 2024 SpaceX investigation should not be transferred to this April 2025 story. The Journal’s reporting description.

- Reported by the Journal: Musk sometimes asked women he interacted with on X to have his children, according to people who had viewed messages.
- Not independently established here: the identity of every woman approached, the full content or context of the exchanges, or authentication of the underlying private messages.
- Not established by the reporting alone: any particular woman’s consent, response, or motive beyond what a source or public statement specifically says.
How the public responses fit
E! News reported that Tiffany Fong objected to being included in the Journal story. Fong posted: “For the record, I did not feed this story to WSJ (or any other outlet) and explicitly asked NOT to be included when I was contacted for comment.” E! summarized the Journal’s claim that Musk asked whether she was interested in having a child with him. Her post addresses her contact with the outlet and her objection to inclusion; it does not confirm the reported private exchange. E! News’s account of Fong’s response.
Musk’s public comments provide context, not confirmation
The Journal quoted Musk speaking by live video to an investment conference in Saudi Arabia: “If you don’t make new humans, there’s no humanity, and all the policies in the world don’t matter.” The statement reflects his publicly expressed pronatalist views, but it does not independently prove the private-message allegations. What to take away
The careful reading is that the Journal reported a pattern of private approaches to some women on X, with the X-message detail attributed to people who said they had seen messages. The evidence available here does not permit treating every reported exchange as independently verified or drawing conclusions about the women’s consent or intentions.
