Manga spoilers through the ending of Jujutsu Kaisen. Sukuna’s innate cursed technique is Shrine. Its signature slashes are Dismantle and Cleave; he also uses a powerful fire attack. Malevolent Shrine is his Domain Expansion, not a separate innate technique, and the later world-targeting slash is a special application of Dismantle.

Gege Akutami’s manga concluded in September 2024, with VIZ listing the series through chapter 271. The official anime site confirms the conclusion, and VIZ’s chapter catalog provides the complete chapter listing.

What are Sukuna’s cursed techniques?

Shrine is the name of Sukuna’s innate cursed technique. Its principal cutting applications are Dismantle and Cleave. The fire attack is also part of a complete account of his abilities, although its precise classification and mechanism should not be treated as settled beyond what the manga establishes. Malevolent Shrine is the Domain Expansion that deploys his technique as a sure-hit effect, rather than another innate technique. The Shrine reference and the Sukuna reference summarize these distinctions; the manga remains the primary source.

What is the difference between Cleave and Dismantle?

Dismantle: the general slash

Dismantle is Sukuna’s general-purpose slashing attack. It can be used outside his domain as an offensive technique, and it is the foundation for the later slash that targets the world itself.

Cleave: adjusted to its target

Cleave is described as adapting its cutting force to the target. That functional contrast is the important distinction: Dismantle is the general slash, while Cleave adjusts to what it is cutting. The manga’s presentation does not justify adding unsupported numerical thresholds or treating the two names as interchangeable. The Shrine reference gives the distinction, but fine mechanics are best checked against the licensed manga and the translation edition in use.

Is Malevolent Shrine a cursed technique?

Malevolent Shrine is Sukuna’s Domain Expansion, not a second innate technique alongside Shrine. A domain gives its user a way to impose a technique’s effect as a sure-hit; in Sukuna’s case, the domain applies his slashing attacks across its effective range. It is therefore more accurate to describe it as Shrine deployed through a domain than as a separate attack or a decorative shrine. The reference account describes Malevolent Shrine as an unusual domain that does not operate like an ordinary closed-barrier domain. See the Malevolent Shrine reference for its summarized mechanics.

How does Sukuna use fire?

Sukuna unleashes a powerful fire attack, notably in the Shibuya-era events covered by chapter 119. It belongs in an inventory of his demonstrated offensive abilities, but the available official chapter landing page confirms the chapter rather than exposing the dialogue needed to establish a more exact classification. Calling it a fire attack is safer than asserting a specific mechanism or insisting on a separate innate technique. VIZ’s chapter 119 page identifies the chapter and dates it September 6, 2020.

What is the world-cutting slash?

The world-targeting slash is best understood as a later application of Dismantle, not a wholly separate innate technique. After Mahoraga’s adaptation provided a model, Sukuna extended the target of his slash beyond an opponent’s body to the space or world in which the opponent existed. The key distinction is the target: it is still explained as an evolution of Shrine’s slashing application. Chapter 236 is a waypoint for the manga’s explanation; exact wording and activation conditions can vary with translation. VIZ’s chapter 236 listing identifies the chapter, dated October 1, 2023.

Which abilities are not part of Shrine?

Sukuna’s combat repertoire includes techniques and skills that should not be folded into the Shrine inventory. Reverse cursed technique, domain amplification, and binding vows are aspects of his broader jujutsu practice, not other names for Shrine’s slashes. He also uses Ten Shadows through Megumi’s body; that is distinct from Sukuna’s innate technique. Keeping these categories separate explains why a feat can belong to Sukuna without being an application of Shrine. The Sukuna reference provides a secondary overview of this broader toolkit.
