This is a scoped list, not an exhaustive inventory of every alternate reality, later story, film, or animated continuity.
Who has worn the Infinity Gauntlet?
| Character | Role in the comics story | What the evidence establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Thanos | Central wielder | Marvel says Thanos gathered all six Infinity Gems and wielded the completed Gauntlet in an attempt to conquer the universe. Marvel’s official Infinity Gauntlet Omnibus listing describes the central story. |
| Nebula | Thief and subsequent controller | Marvel says Nebula stole the Gauntlet from Thanos, and its event overview says she briefly gained it. Marvel’s Infinity Gauntlet event overview covers the transfer. |
| Adam Warlock | Bearer after Nebula | Marvel says Warlock helped defeat Nebula and wrested the Gauntlet from her control. Marvel’s issue description for Doctor Strange, Sorcerer Supreme #36 explicitly states that he wears it. Marvel’s issue listing dates that issue December 10, 1991. |
How the Gauntlet changed hands
Thanos assembles and wields it
The original Infinity Gauntlet story centers on Thanos gathering the six Infinity Gems and using the completed Gauntlet. Marvel lists Infinity Gauntlet #1 as published July 1, 1991, with Jim Starlin as writer and George Perez as penciller. Marvel’s issue listing provides those publication details.
Nebula takes it from Thanos
Nebula’s place on the list is based on a direct transfer of possession: Marvel describes her stealing the Gauntlet from Thanos and briefly gaining it. That makes her more than a character associated with the Gems; she becomes their controller through the Gauntlet.
Warlock wears it in the aftermath
Warlock helps remove the Gauntlet from Nebula’s control. His status as a wearer is also explicit in Marvel’s description of Doctor Strange, Sorcerer Supreme #36: “Adam Warlock now wears the Infinity Gauntlet and its power is almost too much for him.” The listing dates the issue December 10, 1991; the sentence is Marvel’s issue description, not dialogue attributed to a character.

Why the Infinity Watch members are not on this list
After acquiring the Gauntlet, Warlock assembled the Infinity Watch to protect the Gems. Marvel names Drax the Destroyer, Gamora, Maxam, Moondragon, and Pip the Troll among its members. That establishes their role as Gem guardians, not as wearers of the Gauntlet, so membership alone is not evidence that they belong on a wearer list. Marvel’s Adam Warlock guide describes the group.
Where to read the story
For the original event, Marvel lists an Infinity Gauntlet Omnibus and an Infinity Gauntlet trade paperback. For the immediate aftermath, Infinity Gauntlet Aftermath collects Doctor Strange: Sorcerer Supreme #36 and Warlock & the Infinity Watch #1–6. Edition formats and availability can change; consult the listings for current details.

What this list does—and does not—cover
The three names above are the clearly documented bearers in the core comics account represented here. They should not be treated as a complete multiverse-wide count: the sources do not establish every temporary bearer in later arcs, alternate realities, films, or animation. Those continuities require their own issue- or source-specific checks.
