Elle Macpherson was reported arriving at Sydney Airport in September 2024, shortly after an interview in which she disclosed a past breast cancer diagnosis and said she had declined recommended chemotherapy. The airport report documented a sighting, not the reason for her trip; the cancer account came from Macpherson’s interview with The Australian Women’s Weekly.
What was reported at Sydney Airport?
PerthNow reported on September 4, 2024, that Macpherson had arrived at Sydney Airport the previous Wednesday. The report described her wheeling luggage and noted what she was wearing; its image was credited to MEDIA-MODE. It did not establish where she had travelled from or why she was in Sydney. The timing placed the sighting amid renewed attention to Macpherson’s health disclosure. It should not be mistaken for a new diagnosis announcement or evidence about her present condition.
What did Macpherson disclose about her cancer?
In an interview published by The Australian Women’s Weekly on September 2, 2024, Macpherson said she had kept her diagnosis private for seven years. She described receiving a breast cancer diagnosis in 2017 after a lumpectomy. The magazine reported that her doctor recommended mastectomy, radiation, chemotherapy, hormone therapy and reconstruction. These details reflect the interview and Macpherson’s account, not an independent review of her medical records. Read the interview by Sophie Tedmanson.

Why did she say she refused chemotherapy?
Macpherson said she decided against chemotherapy and described choosing what she called an “intuitive, heart-led, holistic approach.” In the interview, she also said she was under the care of several specialists and spent eight months in Arizona. Those are descriptions of her personal decision and care as presented in the interview; they do not establish that holistic methods treated or cured her cancer.
She framed her choice as personal rather than universal. Quoting her book, she said: “I came to the understanding that there was no sure thing and absolutely no guarantees. There was no ‘right’ way, just the right way for me.” She also said, “I want to help and encourage others to follow their heart and give things a go.” Her words describe her perspective; they should not be read as medical advice for someone facing a cancer diagnosis.

What does the interview say about her health status?
Macpherson told the magazine: “In traditional terms, they’d say I’m in clinical remission, but I would say I’m in utter wellness. And I am!” This is her self-report in a 2024 interview. It is not independent confirmation of her medical status, and the available account does not establish her health in 2026.
