Yes—Drew McIntyre has been cast as Angus MacLeod in the Highlander reboot. Deadline reported the casting on September 26, 2025, describing Angus as the brother of Henry Cavill’s character. The project is a new film based on the 1986 Highlander, directed by Chad Stahelski.
Who is Drew McIntyre playing in Highlander?
McIntyre is playing Angus MacLeod. Deadline’s casting report identifies Angus as the brother of Henry Cavill’s character; it does not provide further character detail. The report names Cavill but does not identify his character in the casting item, so more specific claims about the brothers’ story should wait for an official character description.
Deadline reported McIntyre’s casting on September 26, 2025, in an article surfaced through an IMDb News mirror: Deadline’s report on McIntyre joining the Highlander reboot.
What is known about the Highlander reboot?

These are details from that report, not a guarantee that the final cast or production plans will remain unchanged.

In GamesRadar’s first-look coverage, Stahelski described the story as moving from the Highlands to New York and Hong Kong. That is the director’s reported description, not a complete plot synopsis. GamesRadar said the reboot had no release date when that article was published; the reporting cited here does not establish a current release date.

In the same interview, he also said he had been in the Scottish Highlands that week and referred to paparazzi photos of himself and Cavill. Those comments are McIntyre’s account of his activities and enthusiasm; they are not a studio announcement of production dates or release plans. WrestleTalk’s report on McIntyre’s comments.

How the reboot relates to the 1986 film
The reported casting places McIntyre in a new film based on the original Highlander, rather than identifying him as part of the 1986 movie’s cast. The available reports establish the reboot’s source film and some of its announced cast and creative team; they do not provide enough detail to describe the full plot or explain exactly how Angus fits into the story.
GamesRadar’s first-look coverage discusses Stahelski’s description of the story’s geographic scope and reports the absence of a release date at publication: GamesRadar’s first look at the Highlander reboot.
