Dua Lipa’s nearly invisible bleached eyebrows appeared on the cover of Vogue France’s September 2023 issue. The magazine announced the cover on August 24 and said the issue would be available in kiosks and online from August 30, 2023.
What Dua Lipa looked like on the cover
In the cover styling, Lipa’s eyebrows were lightened until they were almost invisible. Her long dark hair was slicked back from her face, and the makeup was minimal. A leather jacket with an oversized suede collar completed the cover look, according to Teen Vogue’s August 24, 2023 report.
The effect was a departure from the glamorous image often associated with the singer. Teen Vogue captured the transformation with the headline “Are you SURE that’s Dua?”—a reaction framed as a headline, not a measured survey of readers.
How the look continued through the shoot
The bleached-brow styling was not limited to the cover image. Teen Vogue also noted the brows in other photographs from the September issue, including an image with a slicked-back updo and another with a black bob wig and baby bangs. The different hairstyles changed the silhouette, while the pale brows remained a defining feature.

“Il y a beaucoup de dualité en moi… Mais c’est dans cette dualité que j’ai trouvé la paix,” Lipa said in the interview. In English, she describes finding peace in the duality within herself. The styling’s contrasts—near-invisible brows against dark hair, and a pared-back face against a striking cover image—fit the theme without requiring the photographs to represent a literal account of her private life.
What is known about the eyebrow treatment
The coverage describes the brows as bleached, but it does not identify who handled the look or what product or process was used. Which issue the cover appeared in
This was the cover of Vogue France’s September 2023 issue, not a current issue. Vogue France announced Lipa as the issue’s muse on August 24, 2023, and said the magazine would be sold in kiosks and online from August 30. Its announcement described her as “Dua Lipa, comme vous ne l’avez jamais vue, est la muse du numéro de septembre 2023 de Vogue France, à travers l’œil de Mert Alas.” That is the magazine’s description, not a quote from Lipa.
The announcement also referred to Lipa as having more than 88 million admirers. That number belongs to the August 24, 2023 announcement and should not be read as a current follower count.
