The gesture was brief, and the camera moved to a wide shot, which helps explain why some viewers missed it. The available evidence does not establish a deliberate snub or reveal Meghan’s private intentions.
What happened at the wedding
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle married on May 19, 2018, at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, according to the Royal Family’s event record and Historic Royal Palaces’ history of royal weddings.
On the wedding day, TIME reported that Meghan did curtsy to the Queen. It said the camera showed a wide shot at that moment, making the brief gesture easy to miss. That contemporaneous account addresses whether the gesture happened; it is not a statement from Meghan about what she was thinking.
Why “snub” is not supported
Calling the act a snub would mean treating it as deliberate disrespect. The reported curtsy points the other way, and the camera explanation accounts for why some viewers may not have seen it. The available reporting does not establish Meghan’s private motive, so it cannot support a claim about her intention beyond the gesture described.

Other details of the ceremony
The Royal Family said Meghan asked then-Prince Charles to accompany her down the aisle, and that he was pleased to welcome her to the family in that way. Queen Elizabeth had formally consented to the marriage in March 2018; the Palace published the Instrument of Consent on May 11. These are documented details of the wedding’s context, not evidence of anyone’s private feelings.
Historic Royal Palaces also notes that Catherine, Princess of Wales, curtsied to Queen Elizabeth after her own wedding ceremony in 2011. That is a separate example, not proof of how Meghan’s gesture should be interpreted or a rule about every royal bride’s conduct.
