Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel returned to Stars Hollow—and built careers beyond it
Lauren Graham moved between television, books, and the revival
After playing Lorelai Gilmore, Graham took the role of Sarah Braverman on Parenthood, which ran from 2010 to 2015. She returned as Lorelai in the 2016 Netflix revival, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, and later appeared in projects including Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist and The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers. Graham has also written about her acting career. Her 2016 essay collection, Talking as Fast as I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls (and Everything in Between), reflects on the series and her work around it. In December 2025, the Associated Press reported that Graham and creator Amy Sherman-Palladino were working on an untitled book about their years making the show, then scheduled for fall 2027. Graham said, “I’m thrilled to collaborate with Amy to bring readers all our stories of the special years we spent filming Gilmore Girls, the first and second time!” The AP report did not establish a title or exact release date. Alexis Bledel took on a darker television role
Bledel’s later credits include The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Mad Men, and the 2016 revival. One striking change in tone came with The Handmaid’s Tale, where she played Emily Malek from 2017 through 2022, according to Us Weekly’s January 2026 cast roundup. Melissa McCarthy expanded from Stars Hollow comedy to film and television hits
McCarthy’s post-series credits span television comedy and major film roles. Selected examples include Bridesmaids, Mike & Molly, Ghostbusters, and The Little Mermaid; Hulu’s October 2025 anniversary guide also lists her in Only Murders in the Building. These are snapshots of a much broader career, not a complete list. Milo Ventimiglia took on prominent ensemble dramas

Kelly Bishop added new series and a memoir
Bishop’s later screen credits include Bunheads, The Good Wife, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. The clearest through-line is variety. Graham’s career spans series acting and writing; Bledel shifted into darker prestige drama; McCarthy took on prominent film and comedy work; Padalecki and Ventimiglia became associated with other high-profile television series; Patterson revisited the original show through podcasting; Bishop published a memoir; and Agena continued in television roles. These examples show how different the next chapters became, but they do not establish a complete accounting of every principal, recurring, or guest performer.

Hulu’s official guide, revised October 13, 2025, said all seven seasons (153 episodes) were available on demand on its platform. Hallmark’s official series page says the show airs on Hallmark Channel.
