The cour’s conclusion arrived alongside an announcement that a final anime part was planned, making the date a goodbye to one chapter and a promise of another.
What happened on December 28, 2024?
The third cour of BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War concluded that day. ORICON reported on December 16, 2024, that its finale was scheduled as a one-hour special on TV Tokyo at 11:45 p.m. JST. ORICON’s schedule report described the Japanese broadcast.
For international viewers, a December 16 report from Crunchyroll News described the finale as episodes 39 and 40 airing back-to-back on December 28. It reported Hulu for the United States and Disney+ internationally. Those were the platforms in the planned release coverage at the time; they do not confirm what is currently available in any territory. Crunchyroll News’ December 16 announcement gives that international schedule.
Why was the day bittersweet?
A chapter reached its finale
Part 3 brought its run to a close, ending the cour’s weekly story for viewers. The milestone matters because Thousand-Year Blood War adapts the climactic final arc of the manga, rather than being a separate start to the franchise’s story.

The anime still had a final part ahead
On December 28, 2024, the final anime part was officially announced, according to contemporaneous Crunchyroll coverage citing the official BLEACH anime website and account. The announcement meant the Part 3 finale was not the conclusion of the complete adaptation. It established that another part was planned, not its present release status. Crunchyroll’s December 28 report covered the announcement.
Where December 28 fits in Bleach’s larger story
Bleach ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2001 to 2016. Its story follows Ichigo Kurosaki, who gains Soul Reaper powers after meeting Rukia Kuchiki. The Thousand-Year Blood War arc adapts the manga’s climactic final arc, so its anime finale is a significant adaptation milestone—but it should not be mistaken for the end of the whole Bleach story or franchise. ORICON’s December 16 report provides this franchise context.

What the date does—and does not—mean
- It was the Part 3 finale: the 2024 cour concluded on December 28.
- It was not the end of all Bleach: a final anime part was announced that same day.
- Broadcast details differed by territory: the reported Japanese TV Tokyo schedule and international streaming plan were not one global broadcast time.
- It does not establish current streaming availability: the 2024 platform reports are historical schedule information, not a 2026 catalog check.
