The episode is titled “To Defeat Muzan Kibutsuji.”
What happens in Demon Slayer Season 4, Episode 1?
The episode begins with Wind Hashira Sanemi Shinazugawa and Serpent Hashira Obanai Iguro responding to reports of people disappearing from a village. They follow a demon carrying a woman to a remote, abandoned castle and enter the structure with other Demon Slayer Corps members. The mission provides the opening action and introduces a setting that evokes the danger of the Infinity Castle.
The story then shifts to Tanjiro, who is still recovering from injuries sustained in the Swordsmith Village battle. At the Butterfly Mansion, he is being treated while events elsewhere begin to set the Corps’ next effort in motion.
What do the Hashira discuss at the Ubuyashiki Mansion?
The Hashira gather at the Ubuyashiki Mansion. Muichiro Tokito explains how the Demon Slayer marks manifested, giving the group a basis for considering what the marks mean as they prepare for the coming fight.

Kanao Tsuyuri also returns to the Butterfly Mansion. A crow brings her an invitation to work with Shinobu and the Corps against Muzan, drawing her into the coordinated response to the threat.
Why does Hashira Training begin?
After the meeting, the Hashira decide to strengthen the wider Demon Slayer Corps from the bottom up. Their training program begins with the aim of preparing the swordsmen for a confrontation with Muzan Kibutsuji. The urgency follows the Swordsmith Village events: two Upper Rank demons were defeated, and Nezuko’s immunity to sunlight has made her central to Muzan’s ambitions.
