DC Studios’ Dynamic Duo is a theatrical feature about Dick Grayson and Jason Todd, two young characters who each take on the Robin identity. Its unusual filmmaking approach blends computer animation with physical models and large-scale puppetry. The latest release date and cast details are reported by GamesRadar+, citing Deadline, rather than presented here as a direct studio confirmation.
What is Dynamic Duo?
Dynamic Duo is a Warner Bros. Pictures Animation and DC Studios feature developed with Matt Reeves’ 6th & Idaho and New Orleans-based Swaybox Studios. DC Studios co-head James Gunn announced it in 2024 as a theatrical film about “Robin… or should I say, Robins,” naming Dick Grayson and Jason Todd as its subjects. ComicBook.com’s report of Gunn’s announcement also described Swaybox’s approach as a mix of animation, puppetry and CGI.
At Warner Bros. Pictures Animation’s presentation at the 2026 Annecy International Animation Film Festival, the studio showed the first footage, according to TheWrap’s June 22, 2026 coverage. That report describes the production as combining computer animation, models and large-scale puppetry. Arthur Mintz, Swaybox’s founder and co-CEO, is directing.
How the two Robins’ story is described
Annecy coverage presents the story from a youthful perspective, following Dick and Jason as street kids who call themselves the Dynamic Duo before their lives take different directions. TheWrap describes Bruce Wayne as an influence on Dick and the villainous Red Hood as an influence on Jason. Nerdist’s account of the story details says Dick starts working for Batman while Jason joins the Red Hood gang.

Readers curious about Jason Todd’s background may find Batman: A Death in the Family relevant. The 1988 comic-book event puts Jason at the center of his Robin story; DC’s official page covers its 2020 interactive animated presentation. DC’s Batman: Death in the Family page is a starting point for that separate adaptation. It is companion background, not evidence that Dynamic Duo adapts the comic or is tied to it.
