Cynthia Erivo opened the 99th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on November 27, 2025, with the event’s opening number. The parade began at 8:30 a.m. in all time zones, airing on NBC and streaming on Peacock.
Erivo’s role in the parade
NBCUniversal announced on November 17, 2025, that Erivo would “kick off” the parade with an opening number—not simply appear later among the route performances. Its announcement placed her performance at the start of the 99th edition.
The parade took place on Thanksgiving, November 27. NBC and Peacock began the official telecast at 8:30 a.m. in all time zones, according to Macy’s parade information.
What the performance’s song was
The song is not named in the official NBCUniversal or Macy’s announcements. A search-result description from verified entertainment outlet Access Hollywood identifies Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good,” but without an accessible performance page or another reliable confirmation, that identification should be treated as unverified rather than definitive. Parade route and scale
Macy’s said the procession set off from 77th Street, traveled 2.5 miles, and arrived at the Macy’s Herald Square flagship. Its route made the event both a street procession and a televised performance platform.
NBCUniversal’s November 17, 2025, announcement listed more than 5,000 volunteers, 34 balloons, four balloonicles, 28 floats, 14 specialty units, 33 clown groups, and 11 marching bands. Macy’s November 3 announcement gave different counts for some units, so these are the broadcaster’s later announced lineup figures, not a claim that every version of the lineup was identical.
