Her work with Joel also extended into the studio. The official biography credits Taliefero with collaborating on the mid-1990s album River of Dreams, but does not specify tracks or her contribution to individual songs.
How a call led to Springsteen’s 1993 tour
Taliefero recounted the Springsteen story in a 2019 Pollstar interview. She said she was in her lawyer’s office when Bobby “Boomer” Thrasher, Billy Joel’s production manager, called to ask whether she wanted to go on tour. She had not expected to work with Springsteen.

In her recollection, the tour was Springsteen’s 1993 Human Touch/Lucky Town tour, and she joined nine days before its first show. She also recalled Springsteen telling her, “you’re in.” This is Taliefero’s retrospective account in the interview, rather than a separately detailed tour chronology.
What she brought to the band
NAMM describes Taliefero as primarily a percussionist who also plays bass and several wind instruments. Its profile names bongos, timbales and güiro among the instruments in her expanded percussion range. Pollstar also reproduces Joel’s praise: “Crystal is without a doubt the most talented multi-instrumentalist and vocal arranger I have ever worked with.”

The contrast between her sustained relationship with Joel and her rapid addition to Springsteen’s tour shows two different routes into major touring bands: a long-running role built across touring and recording, and a late opportunity accepted days before the first performance. The available accounts do not establish that either touring relationship is current.
