What happened to free One Piece episodes?
On December 2, 2024, Crunchyroll confirmed to IGN, as reported by ComicBook.com, that most of the anime would move from ad-supported viewing to Premium in stages. The change covered groups of arcs on scheduled dates, rather than removing all affected episodes at once. The announcement did not establish what remains free in each territory today.

Are One Piece episodes still free on Crunchyroll?
There is no single answer that can be safely applied to every viewer. Crunchyroll’s available catalog and episode access can vary by territory, and the historical rollout is not a current country-by-country access guide. For the episode you want to watch, open One Piece on Crunchyroll while signed in from your region and check its access label.
Crunchyroll’s release calendar can be filtered between Premium Episodes and Free New Episodes. The company’s Help article says the calendar is currently available on the website, not the mobile app. It may help with new releases, but do not assume it inventories access for every older episode.

What does Crunchyroll’s 2026 One Piece news mean?
Crunchyroll announced that the Elbaph Arc would begin streaming on its service on April 5, 2026, and that the final Egghead English-dub episodes, 1144–1155, would start arriving March 24, 2026. Those announcements concern streaming dates; they do not say whether the episodes are free or require Premium.

Can you read One Piece instead?
If you want the story in print rather than access to the anime, the manga is a separate option; buying or reading it does not restore streaming access. Crunchyroll announced One Piece as a launch title for its separate manga service in the United States and Canada. That announcement does not establish print stock or availability in other countries.
