But its eight-episode story is more successful as breezy entertainment than as a sharp examination of women navigating business: the gendered premise and lively setup promise more depth than the character writing and relationships deliver.
What is Do You Wanna Partner about?
The Hindi comedy-drama follows friends Shikha and Anahita, played by Tamannaah Bhatia and Diana Penty, as they launch Jugaaro, a craft-beer brand. In a market where being women makes it harder to be taken seriously, they invent a fictional male business partner. The deception is the show’s central comic device and a test of the friends’ partnership: a shortcut that helps them get through the door also creates new complications to manage. The official Prime Video India trailer frames the venture as a story about friendship and women making space in a male-dominated industry.
The series premiered on Prime Video on September 12, 2025. It is listed as one season of eight episodes; the episode count is recorded by IMDb and reported by Business Standard. The India-focused launch information establishes Prime Video as its platform, but does not guarantee availability in every country. Does the fake-partner premise work?
It works best as an instantly legible comic idea. A fictional man is treated as the acceptable face of a business founded by two women; the absurdity points directly at the bias the series wants to expose. The arrangement also gives the story a built-in source of risk: the founders must keep a fabricated identity useful without letting it eclipse the people doing the actual work.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
But a premise can name a problem without examining it. For the deception to become incisive satire, its consequences need to change the women’s decisions, strain their trust or reveal how different gatekeepers exercise power. Here, the hook supplies energy, but the broader business and gender conflicts do not consistently acquire that kind of complexity. The fake partner can feel less like a sustained argument about access and more like a convenient engine for misunderstandings.
What works: star appeal and an accessible setup
The craft-beer startup gives the series an appealing, contemporary frame, while the central friendship makes the business story easy to enter. Tamannaah Bhatia and Diana Penty bring screen presence to Shikha and Anahita, and the light tone helps the show remain approachable even when its story turns toward obstacles and conflict. The official trailer’s ensemble includes Jaaved Jaaferi, Nakuul Mehta, Neeraj Kabi and Shweta Tiwari, among others.

The show’s most promising emotional material is the women’s shared venture: two friends trying to build something together while negotiating a world that gives their invented male partner more credibility. That setup has room for both comedy and tension. The difficulty is that the writing does not always give the friendship enough development to make its shifts feel as consequential as the premise suggests.
Where the story loses flavour
Character arcs remain underdeveloped
Shikha and Anahita have a strong shared objective, but the characters do not consistently emerge as equally layered people with distinct stakes. The stars’ presence helps sustain interest; it cannot, on its own, supply the history, contradiction and growth that a longer season needs. A review by Tamil Filmibeat likewise criticises the limited character arcs. That is a useful description of the show’s central shortfall: its leads are compelling in outline, but the writing does not always deepen them beyond the roles required by the plot.

The business is more backdrop than investigation
Jugaaro gives the story a distinctive setting, but the startup does not consistently make the show feel like a drama about building a company. Branding and market access are part of the premise; the larger appeal lies in the women’s workaround and the reactions it provokes. Financial, supply, licensing and distribution pressures do not develop into a sustained account of what makes the venture difficult. That is a limitation of the drama, not evidence about real-world alcohol rules or a practical guide to starting a beer business.
The supporting cast often serves the plot
A sizable ensemble can make the business world feel broader, but the supporting roles do not all get the motivation or independent stakes needed to become more than obstacles, foils or sources of comic business. Tamil Filmibeat also describes the supporting characters as superficial. The result is a world that is populated without always feeling fully inhabited: the leads’ central problem is clear, while the people and pressures around them can remain schematic.

The romance competes with the stronger relationship
The Shikha–Kabir romantic thread has less dramatic force than the friendship and business partnership at the centre of the series. It does not consistently illuminate Shikha or create a conflict as engaging as the founders’ shared deception. Tamil Filmibeat also found the romance lacking in impact. For viewers drawn to the show by its women-led business premise, that subplot can feel like a detour from the more distinctive emotional relationship.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How substantial is its gender politics?
The invented partner is a pointed image of gendered gatekeeping: the founders need a male identity to make their venture easier for others to accept. That is a strong starting point, and the device makes the show’s subject visible without requiring much explanation. Yet depicting bias is not the same as analysing it. The series does not consistently distinguish between condescension, exclusion and ordinary commercial friction, or trace how the deception’s benefits and costs alter the women’s position.

That leaves an unresolved tension at the heart of the story. The workaround can be read as resourceful resistance, but it also makes the business’s credibility depend on the very masculine authority the founders are challenging. A sharper drama would follow that contradiction through the partnership and its consequences. Do You Wanna Partner raises the question more clearly than it develops an answer.
Does the comedy sustain an eight-episode season?
The fake-partner arrangement offers situational comedy, and the contrast between the women’s actual work and the authority attributed to an invented man is the most natural source of humour. The ensemble adds opportunities for broad comic exchanges, while the startup setting supplies an aspirational, polished surface. But when the same deception must repeatedly generate fresh trouble, the device risks losing force; the show’s comedy does not always build into deeper workplace satire or character change.
Across eight episodes, the premise has to support more than its initial reveal. The season’s conflicts do not consistently escalate into a more persuasive account of the business or the friendship, and the side stories can make the whole feel less focused. The available episode listings establish the season count, not a definitive total watch time, so the relevant question is less how many hours it runs than whether each episode adds enough to justify the extended format. The story’s hook is strong; its development is less so.
Is it worth watching?
Watch if you want an accessible Hindi ensemble comedy-drama, enjoy Tamannaah Bhatia or Diana Penty, or like a light startup story with a female-led hook. Go in expecting glossy, low-pressure entertainment rather than detailed business realism, a rigorous feminist workplace critique or deeply layered character drama. The show’s surface pleasures are real, but its ideas rarely gain the depth needed to make the season linger.
Rotten Tomatoes listed the series at 20% from five critics on its title page. That is a small critic sample, not a broad audience consensus or a definitive measure of quality; the more useful takeaway is the distinction between an easy watch and a fully realised drama.
