Twitch’s mobile-app price increase was announced in August 2024 and took effect for new Tier 1 subscriptions and gifts on October 1 that year. In the United States, the reported app price rose to $7.99, while Twitch’s web price list showed $5.99 for a Tier 1 subscription. This was a historical increase limited to app purchases in more than 40 countries—not a new 2026 announcement or a universal Twitch price rise.
What changed—and what did not
The change applied to new Tier 1 subscriptions and Tier 1 gift subscriptions bought through the Twitch iOS and Android apps. It was announced for more than 40 countries, with prices varying by market. Twitch’s web checkout was not included in this particular increase. Contemporary reporting said Tier 2 and Tier 3 prices were also unaffected.
The announcement took effect for new purchases on October 1, 2024. A report based on Twitch’s subscriber communications said existing recurring app subscriptions would renew at the new price beginning November 1, 2024; that renewal date was reported at the time, not stated in Twitch’s current web-price table. PhoneArena’s 2024 report covered the announcement and renewal timing.
U.S. app and web prices in the 2024 announcement
| Purchase route | Reported U.S. Tier 1 price | Effect of the announcement |
|---|---|---|
| Twitch website checkout | About $5.99–$6 | No increase in this announcement |
| Twitch iOS or Android app | $7.99 | Rose by about $2, or roughly 33% compared with a rounded $6 web price |
| Mobile browser using Twitch web checkout | Web pricing structure | Alternative to in-app checkout; confirm the amount shown before paying |
The U.S. web price is not a worldwide price. Twitch’s localized subscription price list currently displays $5.99 for U.S. Tier 1 web subscriptions, but explicitly excludes mobile subscription prices. It therefore cannot establish today’s in-app price. The $7.99 figure above is the reported U.S. price for the October 2024 change, not a verified current price.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Why did the app price differ?
Twitch says purchases in its mobile apps are processed through the Apple App Store on iOS or Google Play on Android, and additional platform costs may apply. Its explanation is that mobile pricing accounts for those costs while preserving the same streamer payment. Twitch has not established in the cited material a single fee percentage that applies to every country and transaction, so a precise commission figure would be misleading. See Twitch’s mobile subscription guidance.
How to use Twitch web checkout on a phone
- Open a mobile browser instead of the Twitch app.
- Go to https://subs.twitch.tv, or open the channel’s subscription page in the format https://www.twitch.tv/subs/STREAMER_NAME.
- Select the streamer and the available subscription or gift option.
- Check the displayed price, currency, taxes, and payment method before confirming.
The checkout amount is the one to rely on for your account and location. Prices can vary with country, billing region, currency, tax, and payment method; the U.S. comparison does not promise the same savings elsewhere. Browser checkout may also require an extra login or payment step.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
App limitations and billing details
Using a browser can matter for more than price: Twitch’s mobile guidance distinguishes app options from web options.
- The mobile apps support Tier 1 subscriptions; higher tiers may be available through Twitch’s mobile website.
- In-app gifting is limited to one-month Tier 1 gifts, and the app cannot gift a subscription to an offline channel.
- Prime subscription availability can differ across iOS, Android, and browser use.
- An existing subscription may remain tied to the platform where it was purchased. Switching to web checkout does not automatically migrate or cancel it; manage the original billing separately before starting another subscription.
To check a renewal, look at Twitch’s subscription-management page or the subscriptions area of the Apple App Store or Google Play, depending on where billing began. Review the next renewal price before its billing date so you do not accidentally keep overlapping subscriptions.

What the increase meant for streamers
Twitch said streamers would continue receiving the same net revenue share on subscriptions and gifts. If that arrangement and applicable deductions remained the same, a higher viewer price could mean more dollars per mobile subscription. It does not guarantee higher overall creator earnings: taxes, refunds, payment processing, local pricing, individual revenue-share terms, and subscriber cancellations can affect the result.

Who should choose which route?
- Choose web checkout if you want to compare prices, use a browser payment method, or see whether higher tiers or other subscription options are available.
- Choose app checkout if its convenience or an app-specific payment method matters more to you than any price difference shown at checkout.
- Consider following without subscribing if a recurring payment does not fit your budget. Bits and other creator-support options use different payment models and are not automatically cheaper or equivalent to a subscription.
