No—Flixster Video is no longer a supported standalone streaming app for Samsung Smart TVs. Warner Bros.’ digital-code support pages list Flixster Video under shutdown topics, not as a current playback service. For eligible movies from an old Flixster library, check Movies Anywhere or Fandango at Home (formerly associated with Vudu); which titles remain available depends on the movie, account, retailer, and whether linking or migration was completed.
Why searching for Flixster on a Samsung TV fails
The former Flixster Video service and its TV playback app are different from movie databases or recommendation features that may still use the Flixster name. An old icon, web page, or forum post about Samsung support describes a past arrangement; it does not mean the service works today. Warner Bros. currently groups Flixster Video with legacy shutdown support topics: Warner Bros. Digital Code Redemption support.
Samsung’s supported installation route is to choose an app offered in the TV’s own App Store. An app absent from that catalog cannot be installed through the normal TV interface, and an unofficial app or sideload does not restore Flixster’s servers or account service. Where to look for movies from an old Flixster library
Flixster playback, an UltraViolet library, a Movies Anywhere account, and a Fandango at Home/Vudu account are not interchangeable. A movie may be available through a newer service if it was successfully migrated or linked and is eligible there. Do not assume every Flixster-era purchase transferred automatically, or that every title can be moved now.

Check Movies Anywhere first
Movies Anywhere shares eligible movie purchases among connected participating retailer accounts. Its participant list includes services such as Apple, Amazon Prime Video, Fandango, Google Play/YouTube, Xfinity, Verizon Fios TV, and DIRECTV; participation does not make every title eligible. Review the current participating retailers and Movies Anywhere terms. The service is primarily for eligible movies, not a universal home for TV episodes or every digital purchase.
If the title appears in your Movies Anywhere library, use that app on the TV if available, or check the connected retailer apps for the title. The Samsung U.S. app-store listing describes Movies Anywhere as free, with registration required and no subscription fee; that does not make movie rentals or purchases free. Check Fandango at Home/Vudu
Search the Fandango at Home library using the account that held the purchase. The service may have titles that are not in Movies Anywhere, and vice versa. Fandango’s policy covers its related streaming brands and says catalog and device availability can change: Fandango streaming policy. If the title is missing, verify the account and original retailer before buying it again.
How to check for Movies Anywhere on your Samsung TV
- Press Home on the Samsung remote.
- Open Apps, then select the Search icon.
- Search for Movies Anywhere (and, separately, Fandango at Home).
- If the app appears, select it and choose Install.
- Open the app and sign in or follow its activation instructions. Use the account that contains the movie.
Samsung’s U.S. listing provides a compatibility check; verify the exact TV model rather than relying on the broad “Smart TV” label. Availability can also depend on country, TV software, and account region. Samsung’s developer documentation notes that 2016-and-later Smart TVs use Tizen applications, while earlier generations use different platforms; that history is not a guarantee that a particular app runs on every model: Samsung TV platform specifications.

If the replacement app does not appear or the movie is missing
App missing from Samsung Apps
- Search for the current service name, not Flixster.
- Confirm the TV is online and signed in to a Samsung Account; Samsung says an account is required for network-based smart services.
- Update the TV software, then restart the TV and router.
- Check the TV’s country or region settings and the app’s compatibility information for your exact model.
- If it remains unavailable, the model, software generation, or regional catalog may not support it. Samsung’s app-store availability is the practical test.
Movie missing from the library
- Check that you are signed in to the account originally used for the purchase or migration.
- Confirm the retailer account is connected to the intended Movies Anywhere account, if you expect the title to appear there.
- Check whether the studio and title are eligible; some purchases do not transfer between services.
- If you have an unused code, check its expiration, territory restrictions, and redemption service. A code intended for a discontinued service may not be redeemable there now.
- For TV episodes, look to the original retailer or account: Movies Anywhere is not a universal replacement for Flixster television content.
Ways to watch when the TV has no compatible app
If the movie is available in a current service but your Samsung TV cannot run that service, use a supported external streaming player, compatible game console, or a computer connected to the TV by HDMI. Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, and Google TV devices are examples of hardware that may provide access to current streaming apps; check the specific service’s device support before choosing one. These are playback workarounds, not ways to reinstall or revive Flixster. Try the eligible movie services at no hardware cost first, and buy another device only if the TV cannot run the app you need.
For viewers outside the United States, app and movie availability may differ. The cited Samsung listing and service information are U.S.-oriented; check local app catalogs and account eligibility rather than assuming the same options apply worldwide.
