On a phone, open Now Playing, tap the Play Queue icon, then tap Clear. In Spotify’s desktop app or Web Player, open the queue, choose Clear queue, and confirm with Yes. Clearing queued tracks does not necessarily stop the song, album or playlist already playing.
Clear your queue on an iPhone or Android phone
- Open Spotify and tap the Now Playing bar at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap the Play Queue icon in the Now Playing view.
- Tap Clear to remove the tracks you added to the queue.
Spotify groups iPhone and Android under its mobile instructions, though the layout and some icons can differ. Its current U.S. help page labels the mobile and tablet queue instructions For: Premium; availability and controls may vary by plan or region. See Spotify’s Play Queue instructions.
Clear your queue on an iPad or Android tablet
Open the Now Playing view, then tap the Play Queue icon and choose Clear. On a tablet, the Now Playing view may appear in a larger layout; Spotify says you can tap the album artwork in the side menu to open it. The queue is where Spotify lets you see and control what plays next, separate from the main Now Playing controls (Spotify Now Playing help).
Clear your queue in the desktop app or Web Player
- Open Spotify on Windows or Mac, or open the Spotify Web Player in a browser.
- Click the Play Queue icon beside the playback bar at the bottom of the window. If playback controls are not visible, start or resume playback.
- In the queue panel, select Clear queue.
- Click Yes to confirm.
The browser and desktop layouts can place controls differently depending on window size or whether Now Playing is expanded, but Spotify documents the same clearing steps for both. The current desktop and Web Player instructions are on Spotify’s Play Queue help page.

What clearing the queue does—and does not do
The Play Queue controls tracks added to play next. Clearing it removes queued tracks; it is not a command to pause playback, delete a playlist, remove a saved song, or disable Autoplay. Spotify documents queue actions separately from Now Playing controls such as play, pause and skip (Now Playing help).
So the current song may keep playing after you clear the queue. Spotify may also continue through the album, playlist or selection already underway. If you want silence, pause playback; if you want a different listening session, start the song, album or playlist you want.

If Spotify keeps playing songs after the queue is cleared
Check whether the current selection is still playing
A song already in progress is not necessarily stopped by clearing queued tracks. Pause it or start the content you want to hear instead.
Check Autoplay
Autoplay can play similar songs after an album, playlist or selection ends. It is a separate setting, so clearing the queue does not switch it off. To disable it:

- Mobile or tablet: Tap your profile picture → Settings and privacy → under Playback, switch off Autoplay.
- Desktop: Click your profile picture → Settings, then scroll to Autoplay and switch it off.

Check which device is controlling playback
Spotify Connect lets one device control listening on another, such as a phone controlling a computer or speaker. If the queue changes unexpectedly, open the device picker from the Now Playing bar and check which device is active. Switch to the intended device, or close Spotify on the other device, then check the queue again. Connect does not establish that every queue is universally synchronized across devices; behavior can depend on the setup.

- Mobile or tablet: Open the Play Queue and swipe left on an unwanted track.
- Desktop or Web Player: In the queue, right-click a track or open its three-dot menu, then choose Remove from queue.

Reorder songs without removing them
- Mobile or tablet: Tap and hold the drag handle beside a track, then move it to the position you want.
- Desktop or Web Player: Click and hold a track, then drag and drop it into place.
These queue controls are also documented by Spotify.
If the Clear control is missing
First make sure you are in the Play Queue panel, not just the Now Playing screen or a playlist. On mobile, the bulk control may not appear in the same place across layouts, plans, regions or app versions. If you cannot find it, remove tracks individually with the swipe-left method instead. Updating Spotify and closing and reopening the app are reasonable troubleshooting steps, but Spotify’s documented fallback is individual removal.
On desktop or in the Web Player, confirm you opened the queue using the icon beside the playback bar. If the full-clear command is not visible, you can still remove individual tracks from their three-dot menu or by right-clicking. Expanding the window or reloading the Web Player may help when a panel or narrow layout obscures controls.
Open the queue with a keyboard shortcut
Spotify’s keyboard-shortcuts page lists a Go to Queue command for desktop. Open Spotify’s shortcut list to check the notation for your operating system. The listed queue shortcut opens the queue; it is not a shortcut for clearing it.
