Was a U.S. lawsuit actually filed?
That remains unverified. On November 6, 2022, TechTimes reported that Sconnect Vietnam had announced its Delaware-based affiliate, Sconnect Media LLC, would represent Wolfoo’s business interests in the United States. The report said a lawsuit “may be considered”—conditional language, not confirmation that a complaint was filed. The available information does not establish whether that plan later led to a U.S. case or its current docket status. TechTimes, November 6, 2022.
Sconnect Media LLC is also named as a defendant in the English proceedings, and the English judgment identifies it as incorporated in Delaware. That fact does not demonstrate that a separate U.S. action exists. England and Wales High Court judgment, June 25, 2026.
What did the English court decide?
On June 25, 2026, the England and Wales High Court granted summary judgment for the claimants on a sound-recording copyright claim, to the extent of the confirmed matches between Peppa Pig sounds and sounds in Wolfoo videos. Mr Justice Richard Smith wrote that the copying was “prolific” and found no real prospect of successfully defending the claim concerning the Peppa Pig sounds that the expert found matched sounds in videos uploaded to YouTube.

The decision is specific: it concerns sound recordings and confirmed matches, not a U.S. copyright judgment or a finding that every element of Wolfoo copied Peppa Pig. The judgment describes claims involving UK and EU rights, rights in territories connected to specified international instruments, and 13 named countries; the United States is not among those 13. What the video sample showed
The judgment’s indexed text reports 1,175 sound matches across 92 English-language videos, with at least three confirmed matches in 91 of the 92. Its result entry also reports 92 of 92 after a full-length video was substituted for a trailer. The Guardian separately reported matches in all 92 examined English-language videos and in 75% of the examined foreign-language videos. What happened after the June judgment?
On July 27, 2026, the High Court refused permission to appeal and refused a stay of enforcement. The result page says a renewed application for permission could be made within 21 days. This is an English procedural decision; it does not resolve whether a U.S. lawsuit was filed. Consequential decision, [2026] EWHC 1957 (Ch).
Two days later, The Guardian reported that the judge had ordered Wolfoo videos removed from online platforms, including YouTube. It reported that the defendants challenged the order’s reach across the UK, EU, and WTO member states, including the United States and Vietnam, as too broad. That is a dispute about the geographic scope of an English order—not a U.S. court deciding the dispute or independently imposing a U.S. remedy. The Guardian, July 29, 2026.

How to distinguish the U.S. question from the English case
- Jurisdiction: The reported 2022 possibility concerned a potential U.S. lawsuit; the 2026 rulings cited here came from the England and Wales High Court.
