Chun-Li’s iconic fighting-game look has inspired many cosplay interpretations, but the headline alone does not establish who is pictured, where the photos were taken, or which version of her costume is shown. Capcom has released multiple official Chun-Li costume variants, so identifying the specific design matters when describing a cosplay.
Chun-Li has more than one official costume
There is no single outfit that represents every appearance of Chun-Li. Capcom’s Street Fighter V costume listing names variants including Default, Story, Battle Costume 1, Student, Nostalgic, and Vacation. It is a reference for Street Fighter V, not a complete catalog of her outfits throughout the franchise.
That distinction is useful when looking at a cosplay feature: details such as the cut, colors, accessories, and styling can point to a particular game version or alternate costume. Without the original feature’s images and credits, however, the version shown here cannot be reliably identified.
Official examples show how specific costume details can be
Capcom’s July 28, 2017 post about cosplay at San Diego Comic-Con names “Chun-Li by @moonbeam_sunstar.” It is an example of Capcom highlighting a Chun-Li cosplayer at an event, but it does not identify the person in this feature or establish that the images were made at SDCC.

Costume details also vary between official designs. In a November 10, 2021 behind-the-scenes article about Street Fighter V’s BCRF collaboration, costume artist Chisato Mita explained that she wrapped Chun-Li’s hair buns with pink ribbon inspired by the BCRF logo and added belts around her arms to create movement in battle. Those are details of that particular game costume, not evidence about the outfit depicted in this headline.
Cosplay involves more than reproducing a design
A qualitative thesis on convention cosplay describes the practice as social and reports that its interviewees weighed considerations including enthusiasm for a character, accuracy, construction skills, time, comfort, and cost. Those observations reflect the participants in that study; they should not be treated as universal rules or as a measure of how common Chun-Li cosplay is.

The supplied headline describes action-packed Chun-Li cosplay, but no reliable source information here confirms the cosplayer’s identity, photographer, publication date, location, or costume version. Capcom’s official examples provide useful context for the character’s changing designs and for cosplay coverage, but they cannot fill in those feature-specific details.
