The Globes described it as part of a broader professional run that also included her HBO special Someday You’ll Die. The ceremony marked a hosting milestone, and the organization later announced Glaser would return in 2026 and 2027.
How the Brady roast led into a bigger moment
Netflix scheduled The Roast of Tom Brady as a live event at Los Angeles’s Kia Forum on May 5, 2024, as part of Netflix Is a Joke Fest. Netflix’s event announcement establishes the date, venue and format; it does not by itself show how the performance affected Glaser’s career.

In a later profile, the Golden Globes said Glaser’s roast performance turbo-charged a professional run that also included her second HBO stand-up special, Someday You’ll Die. That is a more accurate account than treating the roast as the single cause of her next job: it brought visibility amid other work already building her profile.
From the roast to the 2025 Golden Globes
Appointment and debut
On August 28, 2024, the Golden Globes announced Glaser as host of the 82nd ceremony, held January 5, 2025. The announcement also cited her special and awards recognition. The appointment announcement identified CBS and Paramount+ as the U.S. outlets for that 2025 ceremony; this is historical broadcast information, not a statement about present-day availability.

A solo-hosting milestone
In its pre-ceremony coverage, the Golden Globes described Glaser as the first woman to host the show on her own. The milestone concerns solo hosting, as framed by the organization, rather than a claim that no woman had ever hosted alongside someone else. The Globes’ December 6, 2024 interview headline called the challenge “Thrilling.” The interview is useful context for the appointment, but that headline wording should not be expanded into an unattributed quotation.
What made the year significant
The story is a sequence of professional momentum, not a proven cause-and-effect chain. A high-profile live roast preceded a major awards-show hosting debut; the Globes connected the roast to a run that also included a stand-up special. Hosting the ceremony solo gave the debut an institutional milestone, and subsequent return announcements showed the organization was willing to book her again.
The two appearances also involved different formats: the Brady event was a live roast, while the Globes job was to host an awards ceremony. The available official accounts establish those formats and the 2025 U.S. outlets, but they do not substantiate a detailed comparison of particular jokes, audience reactions, ratings or viewership. Those figures and claims are not necessary to understand the career progression.
