Carrie Bickmore paid tribute to her friend Donna Nottage after Nottage died following brain cancer. Reports published on 12 March 2024 said Donna died on 10 March, and described her support for Bickmore’s Carrie’s Beanies 4 Brain Cancer campaigns.
What Carrie Bickmore said about Donna Nottage
In an Instagram tribute reported by PerthNow and 7NEWS on 12 March 2024, Bickmore remembered Donna as “a ray of sunshine.” PerthNow reported that Bickmore wrote, “Donna I am so sorry we couldn’t find a cure in time.” 7NEWS also reported her promise: “We’ll wear one in your honour, Donna.”
The reports attributed those words to Bickmore’s Instagram post; the original post was not independently reviewed. The outlets said Donna had supported the foundation’s beanie campaigns.
When Donna Nottage died
The news reports said Donna died on Sunday, 10 March 2024. According to PerthNow’s account of an announcement on Donna’s Instagram, her family said she “passed peacefully, having spent the day surrounded by those who loved her.”

Bickmore established the foundation after dedicating her 2015 Gold Logie to her late husband, Greg, who died following a 10-year battle with brain cancer. The charity says it supports brain cancer research and works with The Brain Cancer Centre. Its official pages describe beanies and caps, donations, fundraising, and in-memory tribute pages as separate ways to take part.
For anyone wishing to support the organization or remember someone, the foundation’s official website provides its merchandise and donation information, while its About page explains fundraising and memorial tribute options. Buying an unrelated beanie elsewhere should not be assumed to benefit the charity.
