Brynn Whitfield’s conflict with Ubah Hassan came to a head during the cast’s Puerto Rico trip in The Real Housewives of New York City Season 15 finale, which aired Jan. 21, 2025. The argument drew reported criticism of Whitfield, including some calls for her to be fired, but the coverage does not show how many viewers shared those reactions. At the reunion, Hassan apologized and the two women hugged; she also said their relationship would not return to what it had been.
What happened between Brynn Whitfield and Ubah Hassan?
The Season 15 finale centered on tensions that escalated during the cast trip to Puerto Rico. Jessel Taank told Hassan what she said Whitfield had been saying about her, drawing the rest of the cast into the conflict. Taank later told Bravo she believed intervening was right, though she worried she had “lit this s— on fire.” The cast was left trying to process the trip and determine whether the group could move forward, according to Bravo’s Jan. 21, 2025 recap.
Hassan later described one exchange at dinner in an interview with Glamour. She recalled Whitfield asking, “Why are you here?” Hassan said she replied that she had been hired, then accused Whitfield of possibly having “slept with someone to get this job.” Hassan acknowledged the remark and said, “I regret saying these words.” She characterized the argument as heated and said she felt pressured to perform and provoked by what she viewed as Whitfield’s repeated jabs. Those are Hassan’s account and interpretation, not independently established findings. Glamour’s interview also recounts that Whitfield bought Hassan’s Ubah Hot sauce when they first met, a detail that provides background but does not explain the later fallout.
Why did the disagreement over Whitfield’s trauma matter?
A central dispute concerned whether Hassan knew about a painful experience from Whitfield’s past. Bravo’s reunion coverage says Whitfield maintained that she had shared it, but came to believe Hassan had not taken it in. Hassan’s position was that she did not know. Bravo’s Feb. 4, 2025 reunion report and other coverage preserve the disagreement; they do not resolve what was said or understood. The accounts should therefore be treated as competing recollections rather than proof that either woman knowingly disregarded the other’s experience.

Why were some viewers criticizing Whitfield?
Reports point to two different moments. In October 2024, Blavity reported that fans were upset by Whitfield’s “angry Black woman” comment about Hassan in an earlier episode (Blavity’s Oct. 25 story). After the finale, ComingSoon reported that some fans called for Whitfield to be fired (ComingSoon’s report).
These reports establish that criticism and calls for her removal were voiced, not that they represented the audience as a whole. They provide no representative poll or defensible count of viewers supporting either position. It is more accurate to say Whitfield faced reported backlash than to claim fans turned against her or that viewers broadly demanded her firing.

How did the RHONY cast respond?
The conflict left cast members with different views about whether the relationship or the group could recover. Racquel Chevremont said both women had contributed to the breakdown and hoped the reunion would bring insight. Rebecca Minkoff said some things did not feel recoverable. In Bravo’s finale coverage, Andy Cohen described what viewers would see as “very dark” and “very surprising.”
At the reunion, other cast members were surprised when Hassan and Whitfield embraced. Jenna Lyons said it was possible to care about Whitfield while also feeling frustrated by her actions. The responses show that the conflict affected the group, but they do not amount to a shared judgment from the entire cast.

Did the reunion repair their friendship?
Hassan apologized to Whitfield, and the two hugged. Hassan said she forgave Whitfield but added, “I’m not mad at you, but we will never go back to what we were. Ever.” Whitfield responded, “I would never blame you for something.” The exchange offered a moment of reconciliation, but Hassan’s words made clear that the former closeness had not been restored.
