He also alleged that his parents pressured him over rights to his name before the wedding. AP reported that he did not provide specifics about that allegation in the post.
What is—and is not—confirmed
The Instagram post is a primary source for Brooklyn’s words and stated perspective. It is not independent corroboration of his claims about private conduct. The reviewed reports do not establish who directed press stories, what occurred in the wedding disputes, whether there was pressure over name rights, or the full history of the family’s private relationships.
AP and ITV News reported seeking comment from the parents’ representatives or the absence of an immediate public response. AP’s 20 January report and ABC News Australia’s report, updated 21 January 2026, said David and Victoria had not publicly responded to the statement as of those publication dates. That is a time-limited account, not a claim about their later response.

Why the distinction between allegation and response matters
The clearest confirmed event is the publication of Brooklyn’s statement and the words he used. The wedding disputes, alleged press control and alleged pressure over name rights are claims he made about family events. David’s general remarks in Davos should not be presented as a direct rebuttal, and the cited reporting’s time-limited notes about no public response should not be extended beyond their dates.
ABC News Australia also quoted psychology lecturer and researcher Dr Rachael Sharman discussing estrangement in general: “It’s a bit of a taboo situation, adults aren’t meant to cut contact with their parents, and people get very sort of judgey when that happens.” Her comment was about family estrangement broadly, not an assessment of the Beckhams.
