No: LAPD said Celeste Rivas Hernandez was not frozen when her body was discovered in a Tesla on September 8, 2025. That statement does not establish whether the remains were refrigerated by some other means. The evidence cited here does not verify a refrigeration process, so “refrigerated” should not be presented as fact.
What LAPD said about the body being frozen
In a November 25, 2025 statement, the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division said: “The body of Celeste Rivas was not frozen when it was discovered on September 8, 2025.” The department was responding to media reports. Its statement directly addresses whether the body was frozen at discovery; it does not confirm refrigeration by another method. LAPD’s statement also said the department had sought a court order sealing records of the medical examiner’s investigation.
Where the remains were found
LAPD said the remains were found in the front trunk of a Tesla registered to David Anthony Burke, the performer known as D4vd. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner identified the remains as Celeste Rivas Hernandez. LAPD’s September 29, 2025 release said the medical examiner had not yet determined cause or manner of death at that time; that was an early, dated update, not the later finding. LAPD’s September release
What was later reported about the death
In April 2026, the Associated Press reported that the medical examiner ruled the death a homicide and described penetrating wounds, citing the autopsy report. That forensic finding concerns the medical determination of how the death occurred; it does not by itself establish who was responsible or prove a criminal charge. Associated Press report

Where the criminal case stands
July 2026: ordered to stand trial
On July 27, 2026, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said a Superior Court judge ordered Burke to stand trial after a five-day preliminary hearing. The office listed charges of murder, continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14, and unlawful mutilation of human remains. An order to stand trial is a preliminary-hearing decision, not a conviction. The District Attorney’s Office stated that the charges are allegations and that Burke is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court. District Attorney’s Office release

The latest procedural report cited here is from the Associated Press on August 31, 2026.
