Bonnaroo canceled the remainder of its 2025 festival on Friday, June 13, after the event had already begun. Organizers cited an updated National Weather Service forecast for “significant and steady” rain and the risk of worsening camping and exit conditions—not a confirmed claim that the entire festival site had already flooded.
Why was Bonnaroo canceled?
Organizers said the updated National Weather Service forecast called for “significant and steady” precipitation that could make camping and egress—the process of leaving the site—more difficult in the days ahead. Their decision was a safety judgment based on conditions at the grounds and the expected weather. WSMV’s report and Weather.com’s report attribute that rationale to the festival.
Weather.com also reported that showers and storms had affected the grounds and that muddy campground conditions were a concern. The distinction matters: rain and mud were already factors, while further precipitation and deteriorating camping and exit conditions were forecast risks. The available reporting does not establish that every stage or the entire site was unusable.
When did the cancellation happen?
The festival began in Manchester, Tennessee, on Thursday, June 12, 2025. Organizers announced on Friday, June 13, that the rest of the festival would not go ahead. Bonnaroo’s June 14 exit guidance later provided routing instructions for attendees leaving the site, including people in Moon Colony and Groop Camping and those using rideshare or pickup areas. The page also linked an egress map; it documents published directions, not how every attendee experienced the departure.

What did Bonnaroo say?
Weather.com reproduced a statement from Bonnaroo organizers: “We are beyond gutted, but we must make the safest decision and cancel the remainder of Bonnaroo.” The original post was not available in the reporting reviewed, so the quote is attributed to the statement as reproduced by Weather.com.
What were the refund terms?
The initial offer distinguished between eligible four-day purchases and certain single-day purchases. WSMV reported that on June 20 Bonnaroo revised the terms for eligible categories bought through Front Gate Tickets.
Rank #2
| Purchase category | Initial offer | June 20 revision reported by WSMV |
|---|---|---|
| Eligible four-day admission tickets and four-day camping accommodations | 75% refund | 100% refund for eligible Front Gate Tickets categories |
| Specified Friday-through-Sunday single-day tickets and parking | Full refund | 100% refund for eligible Front Gate Tickets categories |
These terms do not establish coverage for every ticket bought through a secondary-market seller or for travel and other incidental costs. For purchase-specific eligibility and processing details, attendees needed to consult the festival’s refund information and their ticket account.

The reports reviewed do not provide a site-specific rainfall total for the Farm or a verified attendance count for the shortened 2025 festival. Variety reported 70,000 attendees for Bonnaroo in 2024; that prior-year figure should not be treated as the 2025 attendance total. The precise NWS forecast amounts are also not established in the cited reporting.
