A 2016 interview with Blake Lively and Parker Posey resurfaced in August 2024 after journalist Kjersti Flaa posted the clip and described it as the most uncomfortable interview situation she had experienced. The moments highlighted in coverage were an exchange about pregnancy and a conversation about the period costumes in Café Society. The clip drew extra attention because it appeared amid separate criticism of Lively’s publicity for It Ends With Us; that timing does not establish that the two controversies were connected.
What happened in the 2016 interview?
Lively and Posey were promoting Café Society when they spoke with journalist Kjersti Flaa. In its August 19, 2024 report, Inside Edition described Flaa congratulating Lively on her pregnancy. Lively replied, “Congrats on your little bump,” and Posey then joked about her own bump.
Flaa next asked about the film’s period costumes. Inside Edition reported that Lively responded, “Everyone wants to talk about the clothes but I wonder if they would ask the men about the clothes.” The report says Lively and Posey then spoke to each other as if Flaa were not in the room. That is the outlet’s account of the exchange and Flaa’s interpretation of the moment; the clip and reporting do not establish what either actress intended.
Why did Flaa call it uncomfortable?
Flaa said the encounter affected her after the interview. Inside Edition quoted her saying: “It made me want to quit my job. I felt really horrible afterward.” That is Flaa’s description of her experience, not an objective finding about the actresses’ intentions.

The video’s title and Flaa’s description—“most uncomfortable interview situation”—help explain why viewers searched for the “Blake Lively interview that made me want to quit my job.” They identify her reaction, rather than proving that everyone would read the exchange the same way.
Why did the 2016 clip go viral in 2024?
Flaa posted the eight-year-old interview in August 2024, while Lively was promoting It Ends With Us. The resurfacing coincided with separate criticism of that film’s publicity. TIME reported that some viewers felt the promotion did not adequately address the story’s subject of intimate partner violence. Some also criticized a joking answer in an interview as a missed opportunity to point audiences toward survivor resources. TIME reported that Lively later shared resources in an Instagram story.

Those reactions concerned the 2024 campaign for a different film, not the 2016 Café Society conversation. Their overlap in time gave the older clip a broader setting for online discussion, but does not show that the two incidents were part of one event or plan.

The available reporting documents the interview exchange, Flaa’s account of how it felt, the 2024 release of the clip, and the publicity context in which it circulated. Online reactions and interpretations are not evidence of private motives. TIME cautioned that theories about tensions among the It Ends With Us cast or a coordinated marketing strategy were speculative, with no proof of orchestration in the context it covered.

In April 2026, Norwegian outlet VG reported that Flaa was listed as a witness in the Lively–Baldoni legal dispute, mainly in relation to the 2016 interview. That later reporting connects the interview to the dispute; it does not prove coordination or establish the truth of the parties’ underlying legal claims. The sources cited here do not establish the final legal outcome as of October 8, 2026.
