The company says the models draw on artists’ songwriting approaches—not their voices—and presents artist participation and licensing as central to the service. Those are SoundBreak’s descriptions, not independently audited findings.
What SoundBreak does
SoundBreak asks users to choose an artist and enter a prompt, lyric, or verse. Its AI co-writer can help develop melodies, lyrics, hooks, and song structure. The platform also describes immersive 3D versions of artists’ writing spaces.
SoundBreak says the model may reflect an artist’s songwriting approach “but not their voice.” Its FAQ also says the AI co-writer is not the artist themselves. The distinction matters: this is presented as an artist-inspired songwriting tool, not a voice replica. SoundBreak’s product site
Which artists were involved at launch?
The February 17, 2026 launch announcement named Jaren Johnston of The Cadillac Three, Michael Fitzpatrick of Fitz and the Tantrums, Kevin Griffin of Better Than Ezra, David Ryan Harris, Sam Hollander, and Max Frost. The release’s statements that SoundBreak is “the AI in ARTIST” and “AI made by artists, for artists” are promotional claims from co-founder Kevin Griffin, not independent assessments of the platform or its industry standing.
What “licensed” means here
SoundBreak’s FAQ describes two separate relationships. Artists who opt in as AI co-writers shape the songwriting experience and may receive compensation from SoundBreak. Separately, the training materials used by the underlying generation technology are subject to technology partners’ authorizations, agreements, and applicable law. SoundBreak says that where its partners license training music, compensation is handled under those partners’ agreements, separate from payments to SoundBreak’s AI co-writers.
So the platform’s artist co-writer arrangement should not be confused with the licensing status of every piece of training material. SoundBreak describes its approach as licensed and ethical; the public statements cited here do not independently verify those claims. SoundBreak FAQ

Plans and distribution allowances
SoundBreak’s public site lists the following plans and monthly track allowances. These are the site’s displayed terms and may change; check the live pricing page before subscribing or releasing music.

The pricing page also shows additional per-track charges and limits. “Royalty-free” social use is not the same as SoundBreak’s Distribution License for major streaming platforms; consult the current plan details and FAQ to confirm what applies to a particular release. Who gets publishing royalties?
For distribution through SoundBreak, the FAQ states that publishing royalties are split 50% to the creator, 25% to the AI co-writer, and 25% to SoundBreak. The FAQ says the credits are registered in distribution metadata and cannot be changed when distributing through third-party distributors. SoundBreak says distribution is handled through Revelator and that releasing the same tracks through another distributor is not currently supported. These are the platform’s stated terms; review the live agreement before making a release decision.

The FAQ says royalties typically take three to five months to process and appear. That is SoundBreak’s estimate for its service, not a general timeline for music royalties. SoundBreak FAQ

SoundBreak says users can export stems, edit them in a digital audio workstation (DAW), and upload a finished version to the platform. Optional over-ear studio headphones can be useful for listening while editing, but SoundBreak does not require or endorse particular hardware.
The FAQ makes a distinction between a track’s license and continued distribution: it says tracks exported with a distribution license while a plan is active remain licensed permanently, but also says users must take down tracks distributed before cancellation when the cancellation takes effect. In practice, do not treat “licensed permanently” as permission to leave a release live after cancellation. Check the current terms for the precise scope of each right and the required takedown process. SoundBreak FAQ

Availability and privacy
Apple’s US App Store listing identifies SoundBreak as an iPhone app developed by Seshy AI, Inc. and records version 1.0.2 dated August 20. The listing establishes app availability and version history, not product quality or adoption. SoundBreak on the US App Store
SoundBreak’s privacy policy identifies the operator as Seshy AI, Inc. d/b/a SoundBreak and is effective September 21, 2026. It says the service collects prompts and creative inputs, song metadata, and account information as needed to operate the platform. What to check before using it for a release
- Confirm the current artist roster and plan limits on SoundBreak’s live site.
- Distinguish royalty-free social posting from a Distribution License for major streaming services.
- Review the current royalty split, metadata credits, and distributor restrictions.
- Read the license and cancellation terms together, especially if a track is already live.
- For comparisons with other AI music tools, examine artist opt-in, training-data licensing, whether a model imitates voice, permitted distribution channels, royalty and ownership terms, stem export, and outside-distributor support. SoundBreak’s own materials establish its descriptions of these points, not a comparative evaluation of competitors.
